In addition to revenue, the team looked at social influence, industry influence, company mission, current traction of the company (rather than age of the company) and of course, as a startup focused publication, the list is biased towards technology based business founders. All women on this year's list have utilised technology in some way to scale their ventures. Marita Chengdebuts on this list this year with her company 2Mar Robotics which is changing the lives of those living withdisabilities through computer science and robotic technology. Cheng earned the title of Young Australian of theYear in 2012 and also founded the not-for-profit organisation Robogals, which strives to introduce youngwomen to the world of robotics.

This year was the most diverse list of female entrepreneurs when it came to racial backgrounds. There are 21women on this list that come from backgrounds other than white-anglo heritage. Diversity is a topic that StartupDaily has been exploring a lot recently. Having analysed content we have published in the last 12 months,there is definitely an overwhelming racial disproportion, especially amongst female startup founders. Thatprompts us to ask a question are there more white-anglo startup founders than those of other heritage? Ordoes the media need to search harder to find stories that may not be as close to their own backyard?
