- Do you think Canute was a very good King? Why?Yes, because he was
able to let his officers and courtiers to realize that God alone is the true King.Yes, King Canute did not allow his power to rule his head.
What did you learn from this true story?• learned that to be

But what kind of a king is Jesus? Why
did the people of His time not recognize His kingship? Is he really a
king?
- These words are spoken by Jesus to the disciples who were aspiring to be the greatest.- It is a basic description of leadership that Jesus used as King.
“Let the greatest among you be as the youngest, and the leader as the servant… I am among you as the one who serves.”

Your parish priest and the Catholic priests through the ages are ordained
priests. They are called by God and receive the
sacrament of Holy Orders.
They have four dimensions of ministry, namely,
disciple, apostle,
presbyter and presider at the Eucharist
Disciple-the priest is called to follow Jesus
Apostle- he is sent to serve in the mission of the Church
Presbyterhe is responsible for the pastoral care of the Church and her members
Presider at the
Eucharist
he offers the sacrifice of the Mass.
Hebrews 5:8-10
Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered; and when he was made perfect, he became the
source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him, declared by
God as high priest according to the order of Melchizedek.
•Jesus is the High Priest (Heb 3:2; 4:14). •“He is the unique mediator of the New Covenant between God and humankind.” (CFC 1954)
•Jesus is divine, therefore, He is not only the spokesman of God. He is Emmanuel, God-among-us.
•He is the perfect mediator, for in His being, the perfect union of God and man is fulfilled.
•Jesus fulfills His being High Priest by His actions. His whole life was an offering to God. His death is the perfect sacrifice and His resurrection brings salvation to us all.
What is the challenge
now?
The challenge for us, is to make Christ’s perfect sacrifice ever present and operative in our lives. Thus our sharing in the priestly mission of Christ is an ongoing call to live a life of sacrifice.
The Church continues to call us to participate in the threefold
mission of Jesus as members of the Church, namely, as prophet,
king and priest. Furthermore PCP II calls us to build the
Church of the Poor as a priestly community.
PCP II gives three dimensions of how we live this communal sharing in Christ’s priesthood: 1.as a consecration - our commitment to God in everything we do2.as mediating God’s plan - our work to transform the world3.as sacrifice of life together with Christ - our task to celebrate in the Eucharist
Jesus as a prophet spoke of God’s word backed
up with deeds of power and life witnessing
In the Holy Communion we unite with Jesus Christ who brings us into true life
JESUS AS A PROPHET
JESUS AS A PROPHET
Christ commissioned His disciples to
carry on His works, to
proclaim the Kingdom of God and to respond
in His call
Jesus is uniquely high priest by his very being and actions. (CFC, 1955) “Christ gives the dignity of a Royal Priesthood to the people He has made His own…” (Preface, Chrism Mass)
We offer worship to God in the Eucharist by receiving the
sacraments, and by offering prayers and thanksgiving.
