THE  STORY  OF  THE  INTERNET  

My first exposure of the internet is how to do MSN . Then,it really opened my

world !!!

IN  THE  EARLY  DAYS  OF  COLD  WAR  :  The  Starting  Point  Of  The  Internet  

IN  1957  :  The  world  was  stunned  by  the  launch  of  the  Russian  Sputnik  satellite        

IN  1958  :  Eisenhower  ,  the  34th  president  of  the  United  States  ,  quickly  reacted  by  creating  ARPA    

(the  Advanced  Research  Projects  Agency)  

AND  LATER  …  :  NASA  ,the  National  Aeronautics  and  Space  Administration  ,  was  established      

IN  1966  :  Bob  Taylor  ,  a  head  of  Computer  Project  at  ARPA  ,  worked  into  building  a  network  of  computers      

IN  1969  :  The  first  network  ,named  APARnet,  was  created.  At  that  time  ,two  systems  of  computer  can  

meet  and  talk  to  each  other.  

IN  1972  :  The  first  e-­‐mail,  a  simple  program  for  sending  files  between  computers,    was  invented  by  

Ray  Tomlison  

During  1970s  :  Bill  Gates  and  later  Steve  Job  developed  on  the  personal  computer  (PC.)  leading  to  

popularity  of  PC.in  businesses  and  in  home.        

IN  1992  :  The  internet  became  private  and  business  purpose  due  to  the  law  signed  by  George  Bush  that  

allowed  commercial  use  of  the  network.  

IN  EARLY  1990s  :  The  World  Wide  Web  was  invented  by  Tim-­‐Berners-­‐Lee.  www.  organizes  information  through  

‘hypertext’  or  HTML.  

NOWADAYS:  Users  can  shop  ,  communicate  ,  chat  ,  search  for  the  updated  news  ,  or  study  any  topic  by  using  any  PC  in  the  world  connected  to  the  internet.  

And now , the internet becomes a new “oxygen” for humans…
