The Sloping Games• Each district will have two representatives that will be
determined at the ‘grouping’.
• There can be only one winner that survives the ‘sloping games’ arena to be crowned this years victor.
• The winner will be determined by the slope of a line. When your endurance score reaches zero, you have lost. The tribute that ‘lives’ the longest will be crowned the victor.
(This years arena: Mr. Detoro’s room)
• Each tribute will receive a training score by rolling a blue or red cube. The tribute must record their score on their graph. This score represents your endurance rating. The higher your endurance rating, the longer you may survive the arena.
• Example, endurance score of 6:
• You will then enter the ‘sloping games’ area. Here you will roll another cube to determine when the sponsors picked up your tracker and recorded your endurance level.
• It will be a coordinate (hours, endurance rating). Record the ‘check-in’ on your graph.
• Example (4,2)
• Using the two points, you will need to calculate the slope of your line and record it. This information is critical in determining your length of survival in the arena.
• Remember:
• From here you are on your own with only your lab packet to guide you. The arena is a lonely place, but if you are lucky a sponsor (teacher) will offer you a parachute of guidance.
• The ‘sloping games’ is all about good television (learning). Getting help in the arena is costly for sponsors (time wise). Therefore, if you aren’t trying to succeed in the arena, the sponsors will find tributes who are.
