The Science, Art and Practice of Mindfulness and How

to Deal with your Anger in Everyday Life

Mindfulness is not just a term for a kind of attitude people must possess in dealing with their

everyday lives. It’s more of a virtue that needs to be practiced all the time in order to ensure a

successful existence and well-being. Being mindful gives you the chance to cope up, deal,

solve, and face every challenge and hindrance posed by mundane events in life. Actually,

there’s an aspect of science to it. People who value mindfulness are provided with several

strategies in dealing with usual stuff done each day, like going to work, driving the car, doing

the groceries, preparing the dinner, and others.

The thing about mindfulness is you give it your best shot even on the most common tasks and

responsibilities you have to perform. It’s like putting your mind focused onto them – no

distractions, no doubts.

Just like the science and art of mindfulness that help us endure the stress and trials of each

day, most of us also have to deal with anger in everyday life. We get angry because we have

feelings. Feelings in turn are caused by the emotion we feel when we are upset. However, the

way a person handles anger determines the effect of the same. And since it is something that

we must deal every day, there must a strategy for us to deal with it positively.

In dealing with the feeling of anger, one must first be able to determine where it came from.

Try to recall or find out what causes you to feel that way. While some are brought by history,

such as childhood abuse and exposure to violence, others meanwhile are simply because of a

hot temper and negative attitude.

The next thing you need to do after determining the cause is to observe how to particularly

manifest it. Some people react violently while others are able to manage well and control it.

Frustration and being upset are really common, but it does not mean that you have to act with

hostility or violence when coping with it.

After identifying your way of expressing anger, the next thing to do is take the necessary

adjustments or actions to control it. There are several ways in which you effectively defeat the

feeling of anger. First step is you have to loosen up. If you are expecting to meet someone who

will likely get you upset or angry with, make sure you spend some time first cooling down.

Create a mindset of calm and rationality. Think of it as something that you don’t need to react

violently with. You can plan ahead on what to expect when you finally get to meet the person.

When you’re in front of the person, the next step is to relax. Breathe deep and calm yourself

with a happy thought. Consider the encounter as more of a settlement and you are there to

peacefully end any disagreement or argument.

As soon as you are able to gather yourself and maintain calmness, it’s time to put logic in

place. Always remember that since you were able to get out in a situation where you didn’t

resort to violence and you were able to control your anger, keep the experience in mind. This

will help you remind yourself that it is really way much better to deal with people every day

without getting carried away by pressure, stress, anger, and frustration.
