What is a Reversed Classroom?

Reverse Classroom is a methodology where instruction takes place before students enter class.

Using this method, teachers produce 15-20 minute instructional videos assigned to students to watch before class.

What should be included in a video? Videos are detailed outlines of lessons and incorporate

visuals of the processes, examples, and any additional materials.

Videos can be made to include lessons for: New material Readings Exam Revision Missed lessons (teacher/student)

Upon completion of a video a post-text follows to assess comprehension

What happens during class? During class, the teacher facilitates learning by encouraging

discussion, activities, and student discovery.

Benefits of using Reverse Classroom Reverse classroom provides instruction that is

differentiated for various learning styles and ability levels. Use of auditory, visual, step-by-step process, &

examples accommodates the needs of auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learners.

Students have access to videos at their leisure Are able to reference material & review for

exams as needed Students can pause, rewind, and play as often

as needed to accommodate learning disabilities.

Benefits of using Reverse Classroom 2

Encompasses the lower levels of learning outlined in Blooms Taxonomy Knowledge, comprehension, and

application take place during video instruction.

Within the class the teacher focuses on activating higher order thinking skills (HOTS) Analysis, synthesis, and evaluation

How to create a Reverse Classroom? There are several ways to create a Reverse Classroom

Display online Edmodo Private Youtube page Burn CDs or have students bring flash to upload in

class
