The REAL Truth Behind Education

This post may honestly catch a little bit of flack from the more Conservative types, but it is something I want to raiseawareness to…

I am going to start of with just a little bit of a story, hope you don’t mind.

When I was going to school as a kid, I remember having this feeling of, “what the heck is the point of this?!”

I personally grew up in an entrepreneurial environment… Alot different than many out there, so my views contrastthe norm.

Long story short, my dad owned his own architecture business, and as well was a seasoned marketer before hedied. RIP

So as a kid I watched him pull in paychecks owning his own business, all the while I’m going to school fumblingthrough one of those graphing calculators – radians, degrees, pi, tan, cos, sin… wondering how in the heck is thisgoing to make me money…

Disagree as much as you’d like, but MANY of societal problems would be solved with just a little extra income…

I’m not saying money is happiness – it’s just the fuel that allows you go through life a little more smoothly.But don’t lie to me, when you find a 20$ bill in an old jacket you haven’t worn since last spring, you get pretty happy…Just saying…

I was once taught by my mentorship that:

“If you go to work every morning FOR money – money controls you. If you go to work every morning because you absolutely LOVE what you do – you are in control of money.”

There is a large misconception out there that if you do not go to college you are not educated.We have to understand that by very definition, education comes from within:

“The word is derived from the Latin word “educo,” meaning to educe, to draw out, to DEVELOP FROM WITHIN. Aneducated man is not, necessarily, one who has an abundance of general or specialized knowledge. An educated manis one who has so developed the faculties of his mind that he may acquire anything he wants, or its equivalent,without violating the rights of others. By the way, if you have never read that book, you should pick it up.Actually, here is a list of 5 books you’d be crazy not to own.

Anyway, I would be going to school thinking to myself HOW is this going to make me money – and to be completelyhonest, none of what I had learned prepared me for real life.

Everything I have learned about “life” I had to learn through myself.
