Intro to the Patriarchs The patriarchs are Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as well as Jacobs 12 sons Their story is found in Genesis 12-50 Their story is central to the rest of scripture Their story reveals Gods faithfulness and His desire to make His glory know to all nations through His people by His strength All of them are bad fathers and husbands Many practiced polygamy which is always shown in negative light They all marry in the family

Intro to Abraham & Sarah His name means the Father of many Nations Sarahs name means princess He was given two main titles Father of all who believe (Rom 4:11) Friend of God (James 2:23, Isa 41:8, 2 Chronicles 20:7) God made two major covenants with Abraham that still have major implications today They were not perfect but fully displayed that one is justified by faith and not by works

The Call of Abraham Gen 12 :1 Now the Lord said to Abram, Go from your country and your kindred and your fathers house to the land that I will show you. 2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.
