*In the beginning, what were the followers of Christ called? They were called disciples.

*And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself; and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles. Luke 6:13

*Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists, because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution. 2 Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, “It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables… Acts 6:1-2

*And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch. Acts 11:26

*Every Christian is a disciple. If you are not a disciple then you are not a Christian!

*Characteristics/virtues of a Disciple

*A Disciple must be humble.

“God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” 1 Peter 5:5

*How do I start? A disciple must ask questions.

*Characteristics/virtues of a Disciple

*A Disciple must be faithful. (He wakens me morning by morning)

*He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. Luke 16:10.

*Characteristics/virtues of a Disciple

*A Disciple must be obedient. (I was not rebellious nor did I turn away)

*22 So Samuel said: “Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD,He also has rejected you from being king.” (1 Samuel 15:22-23)

*Obedience

*17 Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you. Hebrews 13:17

*The Perfect Example

*8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,

*What is my mission?
