Written By: Amy McNish THE NEW YORK FAME FASHION WEEK presents SPRING 2012 COLLECTIONS (METROPOLITAN PAVILLION, NYC) showcasing international fashion designer Korto Momolu. Born in Liberia Africa, Korto brings rich fabrics to the runway influenced by her African Roots! On Friday, September 9th, 2011, fashion met philanthropy at The New York FAMEall day fashion extravaganza with multiple designers showcasing their Spring 2012 collections and a silent auction to benefit the Twin Towers Orphan Fund (www.ttof.org ). The New York FAME is the creation of CEO Melisa Brown who sought to highlight fabulous fashion designers and style for a good cause during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. It is all too fitting on the 10 th Anniversary of the 9/11 attacks part of the proceeds from this event is benefitting children who lost one or both parents on that fateful day. The collaboration between The New York FAME and the Twin Towers Orphan Fund aims to provide as many $20,000 educational scholarships for children as possible with the proceeds from the event ticket sales and silent auction. While the event showcased various emerging designers throughout the day, only the most hardy fashion enthusiasts stayed the entire time despite plenty of Monster Energydrinks and open bar. The majority of attendees arrived around 6pm when the Red Carpet Gala Reception began receiving VIPs like Natalie Cole, Rapper Trina, multiple Project Runway alumni, and contestants from RuPaul’s Drag Race who were modeling for Haus of Estrada. THE NEW YORK FAME is New York City¹s premier outlet for high-end fashion designers and philanthropy to come together to highlight style and social good.
