As Features Editor of The New Paltz Oracle, she writes and edits stories about happenings in New Paltz, covering the latest student clubs, businesses and community events. Features writers engage people involved in the New Paltz community and tell their stories. Give them a voice – be a features contributing writer! For more information, email oracle@hawkmail. newpaltz.edu. John (second of his name) is a fourth-year journalism major and history minor. This is his second semester with The Oracle. He devotes most of his enthusiasm to Yankee baseball, spends most of his money on vinyl records, babbles mostly about punk bands and ends most of his tweets with: #BestShowWFMU. Someday he hopes to complete a “Parks and Recreation” fanzine. He’s excited to edit the news section — a section that will have significant stories throughout the semester. If you’re interested in writing important stories about the town and school, do it for this section. You can help make the news. NEws J ohn TaPpEN A & E Andrew Lief (second of his name) is a third-year journalism major. He’s a passionate fan of the Brooklyn Nets, the New York Jets and the Syracuse Orange Men’s Basketball team. He believes that writing for the sports section is awesome because you get to cover great teams that provide fun stories to write about. You’re also able to look into the lives of the student athletes and coaches on a more personal level. When he’s not busy with sports, he can be found in his room watching the show “Friday Night Lights” and eating cheeseburgers. CLEAR EYES. FULL HEARTS. CAN’T LOSE! Sports are coming . . . The New Paltz Oracle covers everything from politics to professors, sports to student artists and more. We are always looking for new writers, photographers and videographers. We also encourage you to submit your original cartoons, letters to the editor and/or op-eds. We hope everyone who is interested will come to our weekly meetings to meet the staff and learn more. Remember to pick up a copy of The New Paltz Oracle every Thursday and stay informed about your campus and community. Suzy Berkowitz (first of her name) is a fourth- year journalism major who was too behind on credits to choose a cool minor. This is her fourth semester on The Oracle and her first as A&E Editor. She also serves as The Oracle’s Social Media Chief, where she gets to fulfill her dream of being a fabulous (obnoxious) Internet monster. She openly refuses to graduate, and instead plans on moving a cardboard box of her knick-knacks into the office for an indefinite period of time. She would love all you beautiful writers to take a crack at A&E. If not, take a crack at any other section of this baby. Say crack again, crack.
