The story

Page 7: "The magic flute" presentation

Long time ago, in the Ancient Egypt, there was a misterious temple. People were afraid of it and didn’t want to get close. The temple was

in the middle of a forest protected by enormous snakes.

One day, prince Tamino went into the forest. A terrible monster-snake attacked him. Tamino had no sword

to defend himself so he started to run to escape. The snake was faster than him but at the last moment one

of the the three fairies under The Queen of the Night orders killed it

with a lance. She ran to tell her what happened.

The prince had fallen asleep and when he woke up he only saw a

young man singing and playing a kind of flute. He was wearing a

strange feathers dress. His name was Papageno.

His job was to catch and sell birds to the Queen of the Night.

Tamino accepted and got a magic flute to protect himself.

Papageno also got some little magic bells.

The three fairies had an order from the Queen of the Night: Tamino had to rescue beauty Pamina, the Queen’s daughter, from the

wizard Sarastro. He kept her captived in the temple. Then Tamino could marry Pamina.

Then Saratro arrived on a chariot drawn by lions.

Saratro gardiens caught prince Tamino and Papageno and explained them they were wrong: The Queen of the Night was a bad woman

and Sarastro tried to save Pamina from her mother.

t

Sarastro was no so bad… he wanted a great husband for her

daughter.

Sarastro told them that Tamino could marry Pamina if they won three exams showing their value and wisdom. If they didn’t, they

would die!

The Queen of the Night was very angry when she knew what happened.

She tried to convince Pamina to kill Sarastro but she could not.

The second test was to face Sarastro’s lions. They could pass

the test because of the magic flute.

The third test was to spend a night in the forest. Only Tamino did it because Papageno was too

frightened.

The first test for Tamino and Papageno: They couldn’t talk to any woman. Pamina thought that Tamino was not in love any more.

The Queen of the Night went to the temple with her three fairies to face her enemy, Sarastro. After a great storm the Queen and the

fairies dissapeared.

Finally, prince Tamino could marry his girlfriend, princess Pamina, and

they lived happily for ever more.

Papageno was sad because he didn’t have a true love as prince Tamino

had. But at the end he found the girl he had dreamt about: Papagena!
