Dear Parishioners,

As the liturgical season of Christmas soon comes to an end, I would like to thank all the people who helped make our liturgical celebrations so spiritually meaningful and enjoyable. They include: our par-ish Arts and Environment Committee who put so much time into planning and decorating our church this year for Christmas. Our parish choirs for all their extra hours of practice and performing at our Christmas liturgies and especially the carols before Midnight Mass. Your voices certainly lifted our spirits and hearts to our Lord this holiest of seasons. All our ushers, lectors, Eucharistic ministers and altar servers who assisted at Mass to celebrate this special season. All our parishioners who participated in our Mass by their prayers and singing from the pews; and to all who were so generous by donating in our Christmas collection.

Many thanks to those who sponsored our 2017 calendars, Schmaedeke Funeral Home (Schmaedeke & Mintle Families), Robert Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home (Bob & Jim Sheehy Families), Lawn Funeral Home (Jarka Family), and Kerry Funeral Home (Orrico Family).

Please mark your calendars for Saturday, February 25th which will be our Annual Parish Dance and Raffle. This years theme will be a St. Patrick’s Day Party. The band has been booked and the committee is currently working on the menu for dinner. Soon all parishioners will be receiving raffle tickets to sup-port our major parish fundraiser. More details will be forthcoming in future bulletins and mailings.

God Bless,

Father Marty

SCRIPTURE REFLECTION

The unfolding of the story of the Incarnation continues today as the Church celebrates the Epiphany. The tale of the magi from the East is one of the most fascinating in all of scripture. It has much to teach us about what we can come to expect, even in circumstances and places that may seem insignificant or small. Bethlehem was a tiny town, what we might refer to today as a town without even one stop light. Yet it is over this seemingly insignificant place that the guiding star stops in its own search for the place where the Savior would be born. Too often we fail to recognize the fact that the star of Bethlehem comes to rest in our everyday lives, where we can experience God’s presence, manifested in ever new ways. Epiphany calls us to shake off our stupor and recognize the One who comes to save us.

PRIMARY PRAYER

SERVICE

Our Primary grade students presented a joyous Christmas

Nativity Prayer Service. Our young students

reenacted the Christmas story complete with

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, Angels, the 3 Kings

and beautiful Christmas songs and carols. The

church was filled with parents and

grandparents eager to see their child

perform and be a part of this wonderful

St. Alexander tradition. This service is one of the many reasons St. Alexander School is so special. Our students

have the opportunity to learn and live out their faith each and everyday.

The meetings may vary from once a week for a period of time until continuous monthly meetings. Some of the programs that are frequently used at parishes are Divorce and Beyond, Divorce Care, Catholic Divorce Survival Guide, Twelve Steps Recovery.
