WHY GLORIOUS REVOLUTION ?

• Because It was PEACEFUL, and ACCOMPLISHED without BLOODSHED

• James II wanted to reestablish the Roman Catholic religious

• The common people questioned Divine Right of King.

• No one was willing to tolerate the possibility of the country being pushed into military conflict.

• The struggle between the King (Monarchy) and the Parliament ended in victory for the people.

• Social Political factors combined with religious produce a chain of events that led to this Revolution.

-To let people practice religion free

-The king benefited from tax payments

-Declaration of Indulgence

-Political Parties were worried about the Church (Tories) and about de Independence of the Parliament (Whigs)

WHAT HAPPENED ?• The political Parties needed

to united against James II.

• The SOLUTION became Mary Stuart and her husband William of Orange (Military Commander of the Duch Republic).

• The couple was protestant and Mary the daughter of James II, so William III and Mary II to the ENGLISH THRONE

DECLARATION OF RIGHTS

• Restored the relationship between Monach and Parliament. It guaranteed

• No standing Army unless Parliament agreed to it

• No excesive punishment against the law

• No taxation without the consent of the Parliament

• The right to petition the government with complaint

• No war without Parliament approval
