It isthe flagship research organisationofthe Ministry ofAgriculture

MainpublictasksofNAIK- developingandexecutingpractice-orientedprogramscontributingtotheincreaseandsustainabledevelopmentofthecompetitivenessofHungarianagro-economy;- analyzingandevaluatingtherelationsofagriculturalproductionprocessesandenvironment,withspecialregardtotheeffectsofclimatechange;- participatingintheresearch,maintenanceandfurtherdevelopmentofbiologicalbases;- supplyingproducerswithhighquality,pathogen-freepropagationmaterials;- developingcontrolmethods,withspecialregardtotheexaminationoftheorigin andqualityofbasicmaterialsandfoodstuff;- performingdurationexperiments,runningmonitoringsystems,maintainingdatabases;

- supportingthedisseminationanduseofup-to-dateproductionmethodsbyprovidingadvisoryandinformationservices,incooperationwithprofessionalbodies;- givingtechnicalsupporttothenationalinstitutionsprovidingeducation,traininginagricultureandfoodindustry;- maintainingcontactwithnational,foreignandinternationalinstitutions,withspecialregardtotheresearchinstitutesoftheHungarianAcademyofSciences,theHungarianhighereducationinstitutionsandthescientificorganisations oftheEuropeanUnion;- assistingthepropagationofhealthynutritionamongHungarianpopulation.
