Dear Parents,

What a truly special week this has been! On Sunday, wehad our exceptional Spring Concerts and throughout theweek we have celebrated Teacher Appreciation. We arereminded that our ministry is heaven sent and we praiseGod for it.

As I reflect, I wanted to express appreciation to all of ourMusic teachers: Russ Durham, Chip Everts, Lina Pooler,Lynnet Reiner and Delores Weisberg. The programs wereexceptional and very special thank you to our parents forsharing your fabulous children with us.

Last night, we had our annual FLEC Constituencymeeting. We always praise God for the opportunity toreflect and grow as we move forward in His ministry.Thank you to all who attended.

On behalf of the entire faculty and staff, I would like toextend a special invitation to all parents, students andfamily members to participate in our Adventist EDGEAward Ceremony. The service will take place Friday, May14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the FLEC gym. Please plan toattend.

CAUTION!

Please be mindful of pedestrians and bike riders as you pull out of the school’s exit. We have had several incidents where pedestrianshave been nearly hit, as well as complaints of drivers exiting too quickly. Thank you for your cooperation as we make school safety apriority.

FLEC'S NO PET POLICY

Just as a reminder, due to liabilities and health code violations, no pets are allowed on campus for any reason. This includes thisweekends 5K race. Please speak to Victor Gaines if you have any questions. Thank you.

PRIVATE SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE:

Step Up For Students is an initiative of the Florida Tax Credit (FTC) Scholarship Program. The innovativeprogram provides K-12 education scholarships for qualifying students that are entering kindergarten or first gradeor have attended public school the previous year. The scholarships give qualifying parents the opportunity tochoose the K-12 school that best meets their children's needs. The scholarships cover up to $3,950 for privateschool tuition and books or up to $500 in transportation costs to an out-of-district public school. FLEC acceptsthis scholarship. Applications are now being accepted at https://www.stepupforstudents.org.

Registration has begun for the 2010-2011 school year! All new and returning students may begin the registration process. Passwords forreturning students have been mailed. Please remember that the FLEC registration process is online at our website, www.myflec.com,and passwords will be required for all returning students. INTRAMURALS T-BALL/BASEBALL GRADES K-3

Teams and schedules were posted on the FLEC website. Go to myflec.com and see which team you are on and which days you play.Games will begin at 3:30 p.m. and end at 4:10 p.m. Anyone left after 4:10 p.m. will be escorted to aftercare. DEVELOPMENT UPDATE

Good News! FLEC has just been notified that we have received a MAP Award from PSI (Philanthropic Services for Institutions – this is adepartment of the North American Division of SDA. It exists to provide philanthropic services, education, and fundraising counsel forAdventist Institutions, school, colleges, hospitals, etc.)

The MAP award (Model for Academy Philanthropy) is a comprehensive award that includes a potential of $40,000 given over 3 years,expert campaign counsel, board training, and major gift solicitation training.

Because this award is normally given to Academies, FLEC will be a pioneer: We will be the first SDA elementary school to go throughthis program. We will be a “guinea pig” to see if there are differences or similarites that need to be understood between elementaryschools and academies to make fundaising more successful.

We believe PSI participation in our campaign will be tremendous blessing and look forward to working with them!
