GOD HIMSELF

Described as Father

“Our Father who art in heaven…”

“The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ”

Our Model of Fatherhood

The one good father in the Bible

The only truly good father

Matthew 3:16-17 (NCV)

As soon as Jesus was baptized, he came up

out of the water. Then heaven opened, and

he saw God’s Spirit coming down on him

like a dove. And a voice from heaven said,

“This is my Son, whom I love, and I am

very pleased with him.”

John 5:19-20 (NCV)

But Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, the Son

can do nothing alone. The Son does only

what he sees the Father doing, because the

Son does whatever the Father does. The

Father loves the Son and shows the Son all

the things he himself does. But the Father

will show the Son even greater things than

this so that you can all be amazed.”

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NCV)

But he said to me, “My grace is enough for

you. When you are weak, my power is made

perfect in you.” So I am very happy to brag

about my weaknesses. Then Christ’s

power can live in me.

3. PROVISION

Page 21: The Father's Glory

Luke 11:9-13 (NCV)

So I tell you, ask, and God will give to you.

Search, and you will find. Knock, and the

door will open for you. Yes, everyone who

asks will receive. The one who searches will

find. And everyone who knocks will have the

door opened.

Page 22: The Father's Glory

If your children ask for a fish, which of you

would give them a snake instead? Or, if your

children ask for an egg, would you give them

a scorpion? Even though you are bad, you

know how to give good things to your

children. How much more your heavenly

Father will give the Holy Spirit to those

who ask him!”

GOD GIVES US GOOD THINGS

Page 24: The Father's Glory

John 6:32-40 (NCV)

Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, it was not

Moses who gave you bread from heaven; it

is my Father who is giving you the true

bread from heaven. God’s bread is the One

who comes down from heaven and gives life

to the world.”

The people said, “Sir, give us this bread

always.”

Page 25: The Father's Glory

Then Jesus said, “I am the bread that gives

life. Whoever comes to me will never be

hungry, and whoever believes in me will

never be thirsty. But as I told you before,

you have seen me and still don’t believe.

The Father gives me the people who are

mine. Every one of them will come to me,

and I will always accept them.

GOD GIVES USPEOPLE

Page 27: The Father's Glory

I came down from heaven to do what God

wants me to do, not what I want to do.

Here is what the One who sent me wants

me to do: I must not lose even one whom

God gave me, but I must raise them all on

the last day. Those who see the Son and

believe in him have eternal life, and I will

raise them on the last day. This is what my

Father wants.”

Page 33: The Father's Glory

John 3:16-17 (NCV)

“God loved the world so much that he gave

his one and only Son so that whoever

believes in him may not be lost, but have

eternal life. God did not send his Son into

the world to judge the world guilty, but to

save the world through him.”

CHILDREN

In the East

Children are kept.

In the West

Children are released.

In Heaven

God’s son was sent.

Colossians 1:24-25 (NLT)

I am glad when I suffer for you in my body,

for I am participating in the sufferings of

Christ that continue for his body, the

church. God has given me the

responsibility of serving his church by

proclaiming his entire message to you.

1 Peter 1:13-17 (NCV)

So prepare your minds for service and have

self-control. All your hope should be for the

gift of grace that will be yours when Jesus

Christ is shown to you. Now that you are

obedient children of God do not live as you

did in the past. You did not understand, so

you did the evil things you wanted.

Page 40: The Father's Glory

But be holy in all you do, just as God, the

One who called you, is holy. It is written in

the Scriptures: “You must be holy,

because I am holy.”

You pray to God and call him Father, and

he judges each person’s work equally. So

while you are here on earth, you should live

with respect for God.

Page 41: The Father's Glory

HOLINESS

I fear I make too many mistakes to

be a good father.

I hope I make enough mistakes to

become a great father.
