• Quiz: A knowledge game OCEAN SOUND LAB is aimed at the general public and is specially designed for an exhibition framework. Modular design enables a variety of presentation setups, from a single all-in-one installation to distributed installations of individual applications or groups of applications. Further possibilities include the enhancement with physical hands-on exhibits on underwater sound and the development of thematic exhibitions. OCEAN SOUND LAB offers multilingual capabilities and easy extensibility. It currently supports 5 languages (English, French, German, Greek, Spanish) - any further language can be added. Up to 8 languages can be made available in each installation.

Furthermore, the multimedia content of the Sounds of the Sea application (text, sounds, images, video) can be easily modified or replaced by new content.

OCEAN SOUND LAB has been developed by the Wave Propagation Group of FORTH/IACM, a group with a rich research and educational record in the field of underwater acoustics for more than 25 years. The group’s educational activities range from teaching, advising university theses and organizing international summer schools in underwater acoustics to the development of popular science courses and educational tools for the non-expert. The design and implementation of OCEAN SOUND LAB has greatly relied upon this experience, as well as upon the group’s expertise in computational ocean acoustics – a number of optimized codes for real-time calculation and analysis of underwater acoustic fields and signals are integrated in the package. The result is a friendly and enjoyable introduction to ocean acoustics and at the same time a realistic interactive experience with underwater sound.

OCEAN SOUND LAB is available for acquisition by public aquaria, museums of science & technology, museums of natural history, etc., offering a very good way to complement and enhance the experience of their visitors. Multipath Installation

OCEAN SOUND LAB comes with a basic setup design proposal. Customized solutions are highly recommended and can be provided, in order to achieve the best result. OCEAN SOUND LAB can be installed on WindowsTM XP/Vista/7 platforms equipped with touch screen or plain display, microphone and quality sound output system.
