+ HYMN: “I Greet Thee, Who My Sure Redeemer Art” TOULON
Trinity Hymnal, no. 168 I greet thee, who my sure Redeemer art, My only trust and Savior of my heart, Who pain didst undergo for my poor sake; I pray thee from our hearts all cares to take. Thou art the King of mercy and of grace, Reigning omnipotent in ev’ry place: So come, O King, and our whole being sway; Shine on us with the light of thy pure day. Thou art the Life, by which alone we live, And all our substance and our strength receive; O comfort us in death’s approaching hour, Stronghearted then to face it by thy pow’r. Thou hast the true and perfect gentleness, No harshness hast thou and no bitterness: Make us to taste the sweet grace found in thee And ever stay in thy sweet unity. Our hope is in no other save in thee; Our faith is built upon thy promise free; O grant to us such stronger hope and sure That we can boldly conquer and endure.

EVENING PRAYER Dr. Randy Folks
+ HYMN: “Blessed Jesus, at Your Word” LIEBSTER JESU
Trinity Hymnal, no. 303
Blessed Jesus, at your word we are gathered all to hear you; Let our hearts and souls be stirred now to seek and love and fear you, By your teachings, sweet and holy, drawn from earth to love you solely.
All our knowledge, sense, and sight lie in deepest darkness shrouded, Till your Spirit breaks our night with the beams of truth unclouded. You alone to God can win us; you must work all good within us.
Glorious Lord, yourself impart, Light of light, from God proceeding; Open now our ears and heart, help us by your Spirit’s pleading; Hear the cry your people raises, hear and bless our prayers and praises.
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, praise to you and adoration! Grant that we your Word may trust and obtain true consolation,
While we here below must wander, till we sing your praises yonder. Amen.
SCRIPTURE LESSON: Luke 9:28-36 (Pew Bible, page 867) SERMON: Dr. D. Ralph Davis “A Mountain-Top Experience” PRAYER
+ HYMN: “Savior, Breathe an Evening Blessing” EVENING PRAYER
Trinity Hymnal, no. 403 Savior, breathe an evening blessing, ere repose our spirits seal; Sin and want we come confessing: thou canst save, and thou canst heal. Though destruction walk around us, though the arrow past us fly, Angel guards from thee surround us; we are safe if thou art nigh. Though the night be dark and dreary, darkness cannot hide from thee; Thou art he who, never weary, watchest where thy people be. Should swift death this night o’ertake us, and our couch become our tomb, May the morn in heav’n awake us, clad in light and deathless bloom.

Luke 9:28-36
Now about eight days after these sayings he took with him Peter
and John and James and went up on the mountain to
pray. 29 And as he was praying, the appearance of his face
was altered, and his clothing became dazzling white. 30 And
behold, two men were talking with him, Moses and
Elijah, 31 who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure,
[a] which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. 32 Now
Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep, but
when they became fully awake they saw his glory and the two
men who stood with him. 33 And as the men were parting from
him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good that we are here. Let
us make three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for
Elijah”—not knowing what he said. 34 As he was saying these
things, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were
afraid as they entered the cloud. 35 And a voice came out of the
cloud, saying, “This is my Son, my Chosen One;[b] listen to
him!” 36 And when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found
alone. And they kept silent and told no one in those days
anything of what they had seen.
“May the Peace (Benediction)”
May the peace of God our heav’nly Father,
And the grace of Christ the risen Son,
And the fellowship of God the Spirit
Keep our hearts and minds within his love.
And to him be praise for his glorious reign,
From the depths of earth to the heights of heav’n;
We declare the name of the Lamb once slain,
Christ eternal, the King of kings.
