Now everyone in the automotive recycling industry will have one place to go to find current and relevant information to help them comply with federal, state and local environmental laws.

ECARcenter.org is an environmental com-pliance assistance center developed by the Automotive Recyclers Association, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences.

Visitors to ECARcenter.org will find plain language explanations of the major envi-ronmental regulations affecting automotive recyclers, along with links to additional sources of more detailed information.

ECARcenter.org is designed to be an in-teractive web site that allows users to search by state and activity subject. By taking the ECAR Tour, users will eventually have access to more than 1200 informative fact sheets on topics that recyclers care about most – such as stormwater manage-ment, hazardous waste handling, used tire storage, and wastewater disposal.

In addition to detailing what is required, ECARcenter.org provides extra informa-tion to help improve facility operations, including industry Best Management Practices (BMPs) and self-audit check-lists. It also contains tools that help us-ers locate other useful resources on the Internet. ECARcenter.org centralizes all of this material in a format that is user-friendly and easily printed.

To benefit users further, the site also fea-tures up-to-the-minute industry news ar-ticles pulled from publications across the country, as well as an interactive calen-dar feature that allows users to input dates of industry events.

With funding allocated through EPA, ECARcenter.org is available at no cost to the user.
