Dear Editor, The globe theater is magnificent and I go to the globe many times to watch entertaining plays. I am what you call a groundling. I have to stand in what we call the pit and I pay a penny to watch a performance. Although I might not pay as much as others, I think groundlings still deserve to be able to sit down and enjoy the play comfortably, not having to get fatigued and sore standing up. I think the theater should allow the groundlings to have the option to bring their own chairs to sit down. An option the theater could do is raffles and pull out a couple of names selecting people that sit in the upper level with a chair but still be able to pay only a penny. If seats are that sit in the upper level with a chair but still be able to pay only a penny. If seats are provided, everyone would be able to enjoy plays and this could possibly make the globe more popular for treating everyone equally.Sincerely,

Groundling

So I hear that you just released your shortest comedy to date, The Comedy of Errors. What is it about and what was it like writing it?

Well, it (The Comedy of Errors) is about two sets of identical twins, Well, it (The Comedy of Errors) is about two sets of identical twins, two masters and two slaves, who get separated from one another and try to reunite with each other. I won’t give away too much, but what ensues is a cornucopia of misunderstandings, unnecessary fighting, seduction, claims of infidelity and even accusations of being possessed by unholy creatures (demons). I got a lot of enjoyment out of writing this crazy tale and tried to stray as far away from the norm as socially acceptable. away from the norm as socially acceptable.

Today I sat down with one of Today I sat down with one of the great playwrights of our time, William Shakespeare. William Shakespear is known for many popular works of literature including, Romeo and Juliet, Henry VI, andMidsummer Night’s Dream andMidsummer Night’s Dream just to name a few.

Before I get started, I wanted to take a second to thank Mr. Shakespeare for taking some time to sit down and talk with us.

So tell your many fans, what was the easiest famous play that you ever wrote?

I’m afraid that it’s not that simple. Every one of my famous plays and comedies were at the least challenging, some that I thought were almost impossible to pull off and some that I honestly thought I could have done better. So to answer your question, I can’t tell you what was my easiest piece, especially because I’m still writing new plays that I’m sure will amaze.

Alright, let’s talk about your Alright, let’s talk about your writing style. How does it differ from piece to piece? Well, I try not to be a one trick pony; otherwise people wouldn’t come see my works in the theater.

Surely there must be some Surely there must be some elements that pop up in multiple plays. Of course, I put several elements from past works into my plays. For example in my tragedies and some comedies, I tend to use a lot of dramatic irony to sew both the hate a lot of dramatic irony to sew both the hate and empathy you're supposed to feel for the characters. Also I tend to use some of my own words that I have made myself.

Wonderful, but I’m afraid I only have time to ask one more question. Can you tell us about any of your future pieces? Yes, I’m currently writing a tragic story about two lovers kept apart by warring families Yes, I’m currently writing a tragic story about two lovers kept apart by warring families and try to defy tradition and fate. I call it Romeo and Joliet. I’m also thinking about writ-ing a tragedy about Rome’s greatest leader, Julius Caesar.

I’m sure knowing you, they will both be masterpieces for the ages. Thank you for sitting down to talk to us. Goodbye and good luck on your next projects.

because this exploration is based off the draw of gold within the new world. No one is even taking into account the fact that creating a new colony is just setting its self-up for failure; failure that will create a loss of life, resources and, support for future colonization.for future colonization. The creation of a new colony will not have any benefit to Queen Elizabeth because it will only create more problems that it will fix. The colony will open up more opportunities for “thrill seekers” but it will make their lives harder. It will test them, and more harder. It will test them, and more than likely cause loss in life. The thought of attempting to colonize the new world is absurd and, I do not want any part in it.

disappearance of the colonists. Nevertheless, the story does not stop here. In addition, Raleigh again attempted to colonize in the new world about four years later! Can you believe it, after all of this loss and suffering, just to go back and do it again? According to someone who was on the investigation headed by Samuel Mace, headed by Samuel Mace,

“there were many reasons the colonist may have left their

colony. ”

For example, there was a lack in many things during the time, food, portable water, and many other important daily necessities. In addition, the increasing threat of the surrounding Indian tribes. However, none of these issues where being accounted for in the where being accounted for in the creation of this new colony

Six Years ago, Queen Elizabeth of England granted a charter to Sir Walter Raleigh allowing him to search for new land. He claimed Roanoke an Island for England and continued expeditions to South America claiming more land. On their first claiming more land. On their first colonization attempt, they literally lost the colony because John White left it to get supplies, but he could not return due the Spanish Armada. Many people from this colony were lost, including Virginia Dare, whom, was the first baby Dare, whom, was the first baby born in the new world. The only evidence of their location was a tree with the word CROATAN carved into it. In addition, it has been theorized that the colonists joined the Croton tribe, and located about 50 miles away on the about 50 miles away on the Croatan Island. Twelve years later, Raleigh sent Samuel Mace to look for survivors of the Lost Colony. How-ever, no formal conclusion could be made, regarding the location of the colonists. According to the general information release, no trace of colonists could be found trace of colonists could be found and, there were no definite signs of a fight or struggle. However, this story does not line up with the one that was told to us by our contact who was on the expedition. Our contact told us there were many environmental related pressures environmental related pressures that were acting upon the colo-nists. For example, when you live in a colony there is a lack of clean water which could have played a huge role in the

Advice Column

Grumio’s QuestionI have been hearing talk around my I have been hearing talk around my town about something called a “lost colony” and that it was on some foreign new land. They say that is a land of freedom and opportunity! So how have they “lost” this great colony?

The Bards AnswerThe Bards AnswerTo answer your questions Mr. Grumio, To answer your questions Mr. Grumio, I have heard from the Great Sir Walter Raleigh that in fact the colony has not been “lost”. Instead, the colony has just moved to wherever the “CROTAN” reside. He believes that this is fact because; they have found the word carved into the side of a the word carved into the side of a tree, per the directions given to the colonists by Mr. John White. In addition, I see you have mentioned that you believe this colony was the place of freedom and opportunity. However, I have been told it is just the opposite; poor living conditions the opposite; poor living conditions coupled with a lack of clean food and water. Personally, that does not sound like a land of freedom and opportunity. However, if you crave adventure then I propose you go for it. I mean “It is not the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves”. our destiny but in ourselves”.

Sir Anthony Denny The Boubles have been showing up on many people around my town. I fear this may be the plague many speak of. If it is, what can I do to save my family and myself?

The Bards AnswerThe Bards AnswerWell Sir Anthony, I believe the disease Well Sir Anthony, I believe the disease in mention is the Plague. I have seen the disease many times before. If I am to properly recall, four of my siblings died to this disease, sent by god for only he knows why. Nevertheless, I have learned these things from my run in with the plague. One is in order to in with the plague. One is in order to protect yourself, you have to go to your barber to conduct regular bloodlettings. This would be in addition to, regularly bathing in Vinegar, which even though is expensive; it is worth your life. However, if for some reasons the remedies do not work, do not worry. remedies do not work, do not worry. Find an Elizabethan Doctor and ask him to lance the boubles and apply both warm butter and onion garlic to the infected area. God save you, sir!
