Summary

• The Upper Shore WIB is a fast growing region • UPSH WIB counties have some of the highest

elderly shares • UPSH WIB growth was largest among non-

Hispanic whites, but had significant minority growth (particularly Hispanics)

• With a younger profile, minorities poised to become a larger share of total pop

Summary (cont.)

• Foreign born has been growing in the Upper Shore Region, but most FB are in central MD

• FB made up around 20% of total population change in UPSH WIB

• An increasing share of FB are from Latin America

• A greater share of UPSH WIB FB have language difficulty than in the rest of Maryland

• Poverty rates for FB are higher than native born, particularly in the Upper Shore WIB

• FB made up about one-fifth of the growth in the labor force in the Upper Shore WIB during the last decade
