TRANSCRIPT
The twelfth convocation of Mody University of Science and Technology
was held on 24th
January, 2018. Like the previous years, this year too,
College of Engineering and Technology (CET) was in charge of the
convocation for the University. This year, the total number of Degree
awardee (Bachelors, Masters and PhD) in the University was 621 of
which more than 340 were from CET alone.
As convocation comes as the part of the Founder’s Day Celebration in
Mody University, the morning session for the day was preceded by a talk
on ethics from Dr. Amitava Mukherjee. Dr. Mukherjee is an
internationally recognized scholar and development practitioner on food
security, hunger and poverty reduction. He has worked extensively in the
countries in Asia, especially in China, South East and Central Asia and
India. Dr. Mukherjee is currently the Senior Adviser, Government of
India, in the Ministry of Rural Development, NRLM and New Delhi. His
talk incited the audience to stretch the questionnaire session way more
than its stipulated time.
The convocation ceremony was declared open at 3:00 pm by the
President, Prof. Suresh Advani. The degree award ceremony started after
convocation address by the Chancellor, Shri R. P. Mody Ji and the Chief
Guest.
The Chief Guest for the convocation was prestigious Rhodes scholarship
awardee Prof. V. S. Chauhan, Ex-Chairman University Grants
Commission, India. Prof. Chauhan was honored by the Government of
India in 2012 with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri.
Presently, Prof. Chauhan is a member of the core committee of National
Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). He is also Chairman of the
National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Moreover, he
is continuing his research as a Visiting Scientist at ICGEB as a J. C. Bose
Fellow & Distinguished Biotechnology Research Professor (Department
of Biotechnology).
After the convocation, the evening session was for the informal musical
event - 100 years of Bollywood. The event was conducted by Milind Oak
of Niche Entertainment and his team in an overcrowded Swami Haridas
Sabhagar. The audience enjoyed the performance to the brim and
applauded Mr. Oak and his team after their performance.

CELEBRATIONS
Lohri is a festival that celebrates the most important resource of our
country. This holy festival was celebrated on 13th
January 2018 by the
College of Engineering and Technology. The celebrations took place
in front of 10S1 Hostel (Saraswati Bhawan). The celebrations started
with welcoming Dr. V. K. JAIN, DEAN CET and other faculty
members. Many performances including singing and dancing were
put forward by the first year students of CET. The holy bonfire was
then lit up after a puja ceremony. The night concluded with light
snacks, Prasad and music. Everyone enjoyed the evening and the
festival of Lohri was bid farewell to.

Dr. A. Senthil, Associate Professor in Department of Computer
Science and Engineering has been nominated to be trained to evaluate
degree programs in Computer Science by CSAB-ABET. CSAB InC is
the lead ABET member society for accreditation of degree programs in
Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Systems, Information
Technology and Software Engineering.
Prof. P. P. Bhattacharya is working as a Jury in selecting papers
for Springer Best Paper Award in 11th
ICACCT 2018 scheduled on 17-
18 February, 2018 at APIIT Panipat.
Dr. Anand Sharma presented a paper in the seminar titled,
‘Women’s Rights and Legal Issues: Cyber Law Perspective’ at the
National Seminar on the theme Revisiting the Nexus of Women’s
Rights, patriarchy and Legal Issues organized by the center for Gender
Studies, National Law University, Jodhpur on January 27 & 28, 2018.
COMMEMORATION OF REPUBLIC DAY WITH
UNDERPRIVILEGED
The members of Karuna Society along with Faculty Coordinator Ms.
Purnima Sharma celebrated the Republic Day with the students of Bal
Seva Sadan, a School at Lakshmangarh for the underprivileged children.
The school children gave inspiring performances in the form of P.T.,
Dances, Poems, Recitation and Group Songs. The members of Karuna
also presented a patriotic song and recited verses to inspire the students.
This was followed by distribution of refreshment to the children in the
School and interaction with the students and teachers. The members
finally returned after spending quality time with the children.
ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS
CET ORGANIZES AN INFORMATIVE WORKSHOP ON
ETHICAL HACKING
The workshop of “Ethical Hacking” associated with Make Intern was
organized at CET by Computer science & engineering Department with
Makeintern.com & Kshitij (IIT KGP Event) recently, Mody University
during January 11 & 12, 2018. The workshop was successful under the
guidance of Ms. Aditi Kajala. The objective of the workshop was to make
the students aware about Ethical Hacking techniques & Information
Security and how to implement them in positive manner. Mr. Sahil, senior
research engineer which had a tie up with Makeintern.com taught and
gave hands on training the students during the two days of workshop.
DAY 1:
The first lecture session of the workshop was delivered by Mr. Sahil
Baghla, Certified Ethical Hacker & Web Application Security
Researcher and currently associated with Make Intern. He explained the
various types of hackers and covered the necessity of hats and security
hackers. He had covered the conception regarding OWASP TOP 10 non-
profit organizations which are dedicated to provide unbiased, practical
information about application security. Students were given hands-on on
topics like live hacking tutorials, buffer overflow, masking system
entropy, thought to them. Rich information on cyber laws was also
provided.
DAY 2:
The second day session started with the discussion of insecure direct
object reference which mainly focused on manipulation and unauthorized
access of data. The main focus of this session was security
misconfiguration which includes the application frameworks, application
server, web server, database server and platform secure setting
configuration. The implementation and maintenance was also covered.
ANDROID WORKSHOP
A workshop on Android Application Development was organized at
CET by Computer Science & Engineering Department with
Makeintern.com & Kshitij (IIT KGP Event) recently. It was organized
from January 11, 2018 to January 12, 2018 under the guidance of Ms.
Aditi Kajala. This workshop was interesting as it was completely
practical. Mr. Adarsh Rawat, senior research engineer at Entrench
Electronics which had a tie up with Makeintern.com taught and gave
hands on training the students during the two days of workshop.
The participants were provided with Abstract Developer, software for app
development just like NetBeans and Android Studio. It also included JDK
2.0 with it which is important for Java programs. Students were told how
to put simple elements in the application with the help of just drag and
drop. Simple buttons were inserted in the application. Also there was a
layout view of how the application will be visible on mobile phone.

SPORTS FEST, DESPORTIVOS 2018 AT LNMIIT
JAIPUR
The students of Mody University accompanied by four faculty members
(Dr. Nitin Kishore Saxena, Mr. Ramesh, Mr. Vinay Tiwari & Ms. Sunita)
participated in DESPORTIVOS 2018, sports fest held at LNMIIT Jaipur,
Rajasthan, during January 26-28, 2018. In total, 32 college & university
teams from different parts of India participated in the meet including 46
students from our own Mody University. Teams from JIET Jodhpur,
GGSIPUO Delhi, SRI RAM University Jabalpur, MAC DU, JDMC Delhi,
GLA University, Amity Noida, Rajasthan University, Amity Haryana,
GEC Ajmer, Sophia Girls College Ajmer and some others participated in
the sports fest. The Mody University students participated in various
games and could make in finals of Football and Volley ball. The Football
finals was a tight match and Janki Devi Memorial College (JDMC), Delhi
University could only defeat Mody in penalty shoot-out with score being
1-0. In Volley ball finals, the opponent team Shree Ram College, Jabalpur
took away the finals from Mody in two straight sets. The scores being, set
1: 25-15 & set 2: 25-12. Therefore our girls had to be contained with the

runners-up trophies in Football and Volley ball. Altogether Mody
University bagged 22 Silver medals.
