RESEARCH CONFERENCE ON LANGUAGE, INTENTIONALITY, AND TRANSLATION THEORY

The Philosophy Department of the University of Connecticut takes pleasure in announcing a Research Conference on Language, Intentionality, and Translation-theory, to be held March 2-4, 1973. Participants will be: Donald Davidson, Daniel Dennett, Michael Dummett, Gilbert Harman, Jaakko Hintikka, David Kaplan, Saul Kripke, David Lewis, Barbara Partee, Hilary Putnam, W. V. Quine, Wilfrid Sellars, and John Wallace.

The conference is supported by the Council for Philosophical Studies and the American Council of Learned Societies. Persons interested in attending the public sessions of the con- ference should write John Troyer or Sam Wheeler, Project Directors, at the Philosophy Depart- ment, University of Connecticut, Storrs, Connecticut 06268.

NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING OF THE ASSOCIATION FOR SYMBOLIC LOGIC

The 1973-74 annual meeting of the Association for Symbolic Logic will be held on December 27-28, 1973 at the Regency-Hyatt Hotel, Atlanta, Georgia, in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Eastern Division of the American Philosophical Association. The program will include a joint symposium and invited lectures and contributed papers. Members of the Asso- ciation, and others sponsored by members, who wish to contribute papers should send abstracts of not more than 300 words to the Chairman of the Program Committee, Professor Bjarni J6nsson, Department of Mathematics, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee 37235, by October 15, 1973.

THE CAROL KARP MEMORIAL FUND

Friends of the late Carol Karp, who died on August 20, 1972, have established a Carol Karp Fund to which all members of the Association and others are invited to contribute. These funds will be used to award two-year Association memberships to selected students. Nominations may be made by any member of the Association.

Contributions should be made payable to the Association of Symbolic Logic, should be marked for the Carol Karp Fund, and should be sent to Professor E. G. K. L6pez-Escobar, Department of Mathematics, University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland 20742.

In due course a notice will be published in this Journal concerning the method of nominating students for the Carol Karp Award.
