a 30-year-old male attacked his 36-year-oldfiancée in their rental unit at a resort on CarmelValley Road. He grabbed his fiancée andforcibly removed her engagement ring. Hepushed his fiancée onto their bed, pinned herdown and proceeded to strike her about thehead and face. The fiancée was able to get awayand lock herself in her room. However, hekicked in the door to this room to get to his
fiancée. In doing so, the door struck the back ofhis fiancée’s head. He then attempted to takehis fiancée’s cellular telephone away from herwhile she was calling for help. Shortly there-after, he left on foot with one suitcase and abackpack toward the main gates. Respondingdeputies tried to set up a perimeter while one ofthe K-9 units was dispatched to the scene fromPrunedale. The CHP helicopter happened to beon duty at the time this was occurring andoffered their assistance with the search. Once

Carmel-by-the-Sea: A citizen reported abarking dog complaint on San Antonio Avenue.Sergeant responded and there was no barkingon arrival; no owner contact could be made.Later in the day at approximately 1430 hours, afollowup contact was made with the homeown-er. Dogs that were barking are owned by a care-giver and are temporarily at the residence.Warnings given for barking dogs and impropertethering 122335 H&S Code in a yard. On Oct.24 at approximately 1425 hours, a followup
contact was made and the dogs were taken backto the owner’s residence.
Carmel-by-the-Sea: Resident reported thata commercial detailing company was conduct-ing business in her neighborhood. The partywas contacted and admitted they did not have abusiness license for the City of Carmel. Theywere given a warning and told to get a businesslicense for any future jobs in Carmel. They saidthat they understood.
Carmel-by-the-Sea: The officer conductedfollowup with the owner of the dogs on CaminoReal. She explained that her house guest hadbrought two of her dogs and they were unfa-miliar with the area and barked when someonewould walk by. She said that she did not thinkthat would happen again since her house guestleft. She said that all three of her dogs were cur-rent on rabies and registration. One similar callto this address for same complaint in 1998.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine received awalk-in report of a liquid fuel spill at SanCarlos and Eighth. Engine arrived at scene tofind 1 to 2 gallons of diesel fuel spilled in theroadway. Crew placed 5 gallons of absorbenton the spill and contained the hazard. Crewswept the crosswalk to eliminate any trippinghazard from pedestrian traffic.
