Lara’s day seems to start like any other — with a cup of tea and a cigarette. Still, today is a very special day for two reasons: Not only is it her 60th birthday, but for the first time, her son Victor is also giving a grand solo performance of piano music he composed himself. However, unlike Viktor‘s father Paul and his new girlfriend, Lara is not invited. Nevertheless, Lara has her own plans for the day. She buys the last tickets for the show and distributes them according to her very idiosyncratic ways. In any case, the events of the day unfold in a completely unexpected manner.
Jan-Ole Gerster is a Berlin-based writer and director. After working for several years for German film production companies he began studying screenwriting and directing at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin. His debut film Oh Boy, which premiered at the Karlovy Vary (KVIFF) in 2012 became a domestic box-office success, was released in cinemas in over 20 countries and won numerous national and international awards, including the Audience and Jury Awards at Festival Premiers Plans d’Angers and Tallinn IFF, six German Film Awards and the European Film Award for Best Debut Film. He has just completed his second feature film Lara and is currently working on a screen adaptation of Christian Kracht’s bestselling novel Imperium.

Patrick is the handyman on his father’s naturist campsite. The remaining time he dedicates to his hobby, designing and creating furniture. When Patrick loses his campsite hammer, his quest to retrieve it takes him to the farthest corners of the camping grounds. Sure enough, when Patrick’s father passes away, Patrick’s quest turns existential. Patrick’s safety bubble pops and everything he took for granted changes. Is he mourning because of his father? Or is he thinking mostly about his lost hammer? In the meantime, the resident campers are beginning to question Patrick’s leadership abilities, fearing for the survival of their sanctuary.
Patrick is an off beat (and darkly funny) family drama about people’s peculiarities, about letting go and being happy with who you are.
Tim has recently fi nished directing his fi rst feature fi lm Patrick, which he also wrote, starring Jemaine Clement. He directed two seasons of Legion, created by Noah Hawley, for FX which was described as the best superhero show on TV by the Guardian. Tim also directed The Terror, AMC’s 2017 thriller set in the Arctic, crime-drama The Tunnel, and all 6 episodes of the third series 3 of Peaky Blinders.

Brave, funny, and one of a kind: that’s Rocca. Rocca is elven years old and lives a rather unique life. While her dad is watching over her as an astronaut from outer space, Rocca lives alone with her squirrel and is attending a normal school for the first time in her life. At school her carefree and non-conformist way of life instantly stands out. She fearlessly confronts the class bullies, because first and foremost Rocca stands up for justice. That’s why she makes friends with the homeless Caspar and tries to help him. All the while she is also attempting to win over her grandmother’s heart.
Influenced by theatre throughout her youth, Katja Benrath pursued that career in her early professional life. She became a costume designer and worked for Pina Bausch’s dance company. Subsequently she completed her studies in Singing and Acting in Vienna, Austria where she also discovered filmmaking. Her first short films (Babydoll, No One Pukes in Heaven & Tilda) have been playing successfully on many international festivals and won international awards. During her Master studies at Hamburg Media School she directed Where Have You Been, Secrecies and Watu Wote, her graduation project, which was awarded with many prizes, including the student Academy Award® and a nomination for the Oscars®.

Suppose your country began to change. Suppose that without your noti-cing it became dangerous for some people to live in your country. Suppose you found, to your complete surprise, that your own father was one of those people. That is what happens to Anna in 1933. Anna is not sure who Hitler is. She is nine years old when everything begins, too busy to take much notice of his face on posters all over Berlin. But when her own father goes missing one day, she comes to realize that the man on the posters is about to change the whole of Europe – starting with her own small life. She is forced to uproot her entire existence. Anna and her family hastily flee Germany, leaving even her favourite stuffed pink rabbit behind. From now on Anna encounters life in exile, not speaking the language, not knowing customs and manners, missing her friends and loved ones. To find a school for Anna is difficult, money is getting very short and they are fearful as they also encounter xenophobia. Yet Anna grows up, finds new friends, and learns to take responsibility. So when her family has to move away yet again, she is certain she can do anything.
Based on the best-selling novel by Judith Kerr. From the director of the Academy Award winning “Nowhere in Africa”. 1933 –a journey through Europe in search of safety and a new home.

One night – seemingly just like any other. Two police officers find the body of the well-known drug addict Lazar near railroad tracks in Sofia. That is how the night on November 9th, 2019 begins – thirty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the regime change in Bulgaria. Through a kaleidoscope of intertwining stories, we follow three teams of police officers, patrolling the streets of Sofia and doing their job the way they believe is right, while facing the challenges posed by the current Bulgarian reality. A story about lives saved and lives lost, about survival and failure, about the goodness that never goes unpunished and the dignity we are trying to preserve. A few hours in the life of a society that is losing its purpose, in search of the result of three decades of transition. Stories – equal parts sad and amusing, just like our way of life.

Robert, a 91 year old, cranky pensioner, lives on a small allotment in Vienna. His dog died during the night and he wants to dig a hole behind his cabin to bury him. But failing to dig it himself he begrudgingly hires a young man from Afghanistan, Adib. While the two struggle to trust each other, Adib finds ways to pacify and appease the angry old man. Robert finds out that Adib has a wound on his foot, which seems rather badly covered up, but Adib pretends that all is well. When the work is done, Robert seems relieved to have the foreigner out of his back yard. Yet a little while later, when Robert finds Adib unconscious at the bus stop, he knows he will need to help the young man. When Adib regains consciousness, he refuses to go to hospital out of fear to be deported. Robert decides to take matters into his own hands to save this young man and the two spend a night together that is so full of chance, will-power, and inner revelation, that it sometimes appears hard to believe that these two found each other.

When her boyfriend Ben suddenly dies in an accident, mother-to-be Charlotte collapses with shock upon receiving the news. When she regains consciousness she fi nds herself in Ben’s family home, a crumbling old manor house in the middle of nowhere with Ben’s overbearing mother, Margaret, and his controlling stepbrother, Thomas, determined to care for her, at least until the baby arrives. Grief-stricken, frail and increasingly haunted by visions possibly brought on by the pregnancy, Charlotte has little choice but to accept their help. But as the days go by she begins to doubt their intentions and her suspicions grow. She slowly begins to suspect that they are drugging her and keeping her captive, isolated from the outside world with the aim of taking her unborn baby. As her visions intensify and the haze of lies grows, Charlotte’s fear builds and she decides that her only option is to break free from this family once and for all – but at what cost?
A tale of a young woman, struggling with a slow breakdown of her own reality. Or is it a tale of a woman who is being brainwashed and psychologically abused by her deceased boyfriend’s family?
