“When you go to walk in to the ICU there are 8 signs on the door that says “NO”

“NO” “NO “NO”… That’s my mother and for her to have access to me whenever she

wants or needs me feels much more—the doors should say come in, and the visiting hours should be gone and I should be part

of the care.”

“If we could have had rounds together, in the room with my mom…planning the care together...I think it would have been better.”

“I would point very quickly to the physical environment. I think that the waiting rooms are—our whole family lived in the waiting

room for 5 days and nights. There is no comfort there.”

“The waiting room--it’s not comfortable at all…families need to stay overnight….You need something inviting and warm and feels like it takes care of everyone in the facility.”
