Business Function Services provide the application frameworks to enhance the execution of Business Service through software engineering. Maturing to On Demand will accelerate the delivery of new services through the use of consistent, repeatable service oriented architectures.

Information Services provide a common, repeatable method for cataloging, accessing, and managing the firm’s information. On Demand streamlines information access and data management making it easier to integrate packages and new acquisitions.

Common IT Services create Enterprise pools of commonly used infrastructure functions and application services. Simplifying the environment in this manner enhances management and cost, but also makes the environment more responsive, enabling On Demand Operations.

Infrastructure Services provide pools of processing and networking resources for applications and business functions. Today, these resources may be isolated into business silos, but with On Demand they will evolve into virtual pools that are dynamically allocated based on business need.

CIR assesses the client based on characteristics, including:IT Servers - Optimize server infrastructure through consolidation, virtualization (like partitioning and virtual OS), dense technologies (like blades), and grid computing. IT Storage - Optimize storage infrastructure through consolidation, virtualization, and centralized management improving storage cost and availability.Workload Management – Dynamically manage IT resources across the enterprise and with trusted partners based on business goals and policies to increase overall utilization. Provisioning Infrastructure - Integrated provisioning and orchestration across the customer’s entire infrastructure.

CIR has detailed initiatives, roadmaps and projects to move from current state to future state, including:

Perform a server consolidation assessment for a structured analysis of the opportunities for consolidation and begin to develop a migration plan with demonstrated benefits.Perform a server virtualization POC. Leverage lessons learned from the POC and/or pilot to standardize the use of operating system virtualization technologies on IT Servers.Create a tiered storage architecture that defines the storage class tiers and qualities of service and supports the corporate ILM (Information Lifecycle Management) strategy. Implement SAN, NAS, and tape technologies across all enterprise locations based on the defined tiered storage architecture. Create a master resource pool that can be shared across application environments. Customize the orchestration algorithms for decisions to be made regarding the prioritized allocation of resources. Extend the provisioning manager to provide the ability to add or withdraw various IT resources.
