AIA Fort Worth Charles R. Adams Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Amount: $5,000

The AIA Fort Worth Chapter established an endowed scholarship as a living memorial to Charles R. Adams, out of respect, esteem, and admiration by his many friends and colleagues in the Fort Worth Chapter area. This scholarship was first awarded in 1988.

Criteria

This annual scholarship is available to a deserving student from the Fort Worth Chapter area pursuing a degree in architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Student has completed at least three years of an architectural program.

Student is a U.S. Citizen from the AIA Fort Worth Chapter area.

Student graduated high school (or originally from) from a North Texas County within the AIA Fort Worth Chapter area: Comanche, Cooke, Eastland, Erath, Haskell, Hood, Jack, Johnson, Palo Pinto, Parker, Somervell, Stephens, Tarrant, Throckmorton, and Wise County.

Demonstrates exceptional talent. Student portfolio requested.

*The recommendation should be made by the UT Arlington SOA Scholarship Committee withthe concurrence of the AIA Fort Worth Chapter President.

Designated Scholarship for

University of Texas at Arlington School of Architecture

Hugh M. Cunningham Grant

Scholarship Amount: $1,000

Rotating Scholarship Eligible School: University of Texas at Arlington

Hugh M. Cunningham, founder of Hugh M. Cunningham Co., a diversified construction products representative company in Texas, established this endowment in 1981 to support the education of aspiring architects enrolled in one of the architecture programs in Texas. This grant rotates yearly between the eight accredited schools of architecture in Texas.

Criteria

The Scholarship Chair or Dean of the eligible school may designate these funds for one of the following:

1) A deserving third (3rd) year or higher architecture student pursuing a pre-professional orprofessional degree in architecture, who is in need of financial assistance.

For a student scholarship, student is to complete the TAF Application form. The scholarship chair or dean is to provide a letter of recommendation.

2) The funds may be used for a specific school of architecture project, program or activity.

Provide a letter describing how the funds will be used.

Mattia J. Flabanio Jr. Southwest Terrazzo Association Architecture Scholarship

Scholarship Amount: $1,000

The Southwest Terrazzo Association provides an annual scholarship to support the education of aspiring architectural students pursuing a professional career in architecture, currently enrolled in an accredited school of architecture in Texas.

Criteria

The eligibility requirements are as follows:

Student has completed at least three (3) years year of a pre-professional or professional architectural degree program. Entering fourth year of undergraduate program, or any level of graduate study in the Master of Architecture program.

Student must be in good academic standing.Demonstrates design ability and potential.Student has financial need in order to continue his or her education.

Wichita Falls Chapter AIA Scholarship Scholarship Amount: $1,000

Eligible Schools: All schools

The Wichita Falls Chapter AIA established an endowed scholarship in 1991 to provide assistance to deserving students who intend to become architects through the pursuit of an accredited professional degree in architecture. The Wichita Falls AIA Chapter is providing eight scholarships, one to each of the Texas universities with accredited architecture programs.

First preference to be given to a qualified student whose hometown is within the Wichita Falls Chapter AIA area.

Criteria

Available to a student who will enter their fourth (4th) year or higher of an undergraduate pre-professional or professional architecture program. Any level graduate student enrolled in or entering the accredited Master of Architecture program is eligible.

Student is a U.S. Citizen and demonstrates need for financial assistance.

In good academic standing, minimum 2.75 GPA.

Demonstrates positive qualities, ability and potential in the field of architecture.

Student portfolio is requested. Digital or print format.

• First preference is to be given to a qualified student who is from one of the TexasCounties within the Wichita Falls Chapter area: Archer, Baylor, Childress, Clay, Cottle,Foard, Hardeman, King, Knox, Montague, Wichita, Wilbarger, or Young County.

Edwin W. and Alyce O. Carroll Scholarship

Scholarship Amount: $1,400

Eligible Schools: Competitive among all eight Texas schools

The Edwin W. and Alyce O. Carroll Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 by the bequest of Edwin W. Carroll, FAIA. Mr. Carroll was an esteemed architect from El Paso Texas, and a past president of the Texas Society of Architects and the Texas Architectural Foundation. He received the Society's highest honor for an individual architect, the 1983 Lifetime Achievement Medal.

Criteria

This scholarship is available to a fourth (4th) year student enrolled in a pre-professional or professional architecture degree program in one of the accredited Texas schools of architecture.

Selection shall be on the basis of professional potential in achievement, and of financial need in order to complete his or her education.

Scholarship Announcement for the 2017-18 Academic Year Competitive Scholarship

San Antonio Conservation Society Foundation Scholarship Honoring Brooks Martin, FAIA Scholarship Amount: $2,500 each - Two (2) Scholarships available.

Eligible Schools: Competitive among all eight Texas schools

The San Antonio Conservation Society Foundation funds two scholarships annually to support talented architecture students who demonstrate interest in historical architecture, preservation and adaptive reuse.

The purpose of the San Antonio Conservation Society: to preserve and to encourage the preservation of historic buildings, objects, places and customs relating to the history of Texas, its natural beauty and all that is admirably distinctive to our State; and by such physical and cultural preservation, to keep the history of Texas legible and intact to educate the public, especially the youth of today and tomorrow, with knowledge of our inherited regional values.

Criteria An outstanding architecture student, with at least one year of architectural education remaining.

• Student demonstrates an emphasis in historical architecture, preservation, and adaptive reuse.

• An acceptable proposed use of scholarship funds would be participation in a school-sponsored travel program to historically significant sites or, where historical architecture, preservation and adaptive reuse are important components, and where unique career interests in the field and relationships to Texas can be shown.

• Applicants must submit application form, Portfolio, AND a written description of his or her proposed project.

• The student's proposal to address purpose, scope/description of project or travel program, location, and estimate for materials or travel as appropriate.

NOTE: The recipient is required to provide a summary report of completed study program/project and support materials (a written report, sketchbook, or digital presentation) to the San Antonio Conservation Society within three (3) months following the travel or project completion. The study program or project to be completed in the academic year of the award.

The funds will be disbursed to the School in July, to be distributed to the student for the upcoming Academic Year. Funds may be requested in May if student to travel in summer for their project, prior to fall semester.

Endowed by the Abilene Chapter of the American Institute of Architects in 1987 to assist students from the chapter area who are pursuing an architectural degree and professional career in architecture. Available to students is enrolled in one of the eight Texas universities with accredited architecture programs.

CriteriaThe student is entering at least their third (3rd) year or higher of an undergraduate architecture program, or any level of graduate study in the Master of Architecture program.

Demonstrates ability and potential. Financial need is considered for this award.

Student's hometown is in a Texas County within the AIA Abilene Chapter area: Brown, Callahan, Coke, Coleman, Concho, Fisher, Jones, McCulloch, Menard, Mitchell, Nolan, Runnels, Scurry, Shackelford and Taylor County.

Criteria

Student is entering their third (3rd) year or higher of a undergraduate pre-professional or professional architecture program, or any level of graduate study in the Master of Architecture program.

Student is a U.S. Citizen. Student's hometown is in a Texas County within the Corpus Christi Chapter AIA area, which includes: Jim Wells, Kleberg, Nueces, and San Patricio County. (Generally student graduated high school or is originally from the chapter area.)

Maintains a GPA of 2.5 or higher in their major.

Demonstrates exceptional talent and positive qualities.

Demonstrates need for financial assistance.

Demonstrates outstanding architectural talent and ability, with financial need as a secondary criterion.

The AIA San Antonio Chapter established this scholarship fund to assist students from the chapter area in need of financial assistance, who are enrolled in an architecture program at one of the accredited schools in Texas.

Criteria

Student is entering their third (3rd) year or higher of an undergraduate pre-professional or professional architecture degree program, or any level of graduate study in the M. Arch program.

Student has a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Demonstrates financial need to continue his or her education.

This scholarship fund was established by the AIA Southeast Texas Chapter in honor of esteemed architect, Douglas F. Steinman Jr., FAIA. Douglas was a third generation architect and native of Beaumont, Texas who has lived his life providing service to and promoting his profession, his community and all levels of the American Institute of Architects.

Available to students whose hometown is in the AIA Southeast Texas area, enrolled in an architecture program at one of the eight accredited schools in Texas.

Criteria
