2009 Testimonials

Nina RobinsonNina Robinson “ “Inspiring For Entrepreneurs & Youth Alike!Inspiring For Entrepreneurs & Youth Alike!

Friday evening, January 9, 2009- The ASK Academy mixer/fundraising event was an inspiration to all who attended, ranging from lively youth speakers to the dozens of professionals sharing their stories of success. The theme of the night was Entrepreneurism & Community Outreach. The event was kicked off by host, Writer/Poet, Larry Ukali Johnson who led individual introductions across the packed room of attendees. The keynote speaker, Amro Radwan who is both a co-founder of ASK Academy and a thriving small business owner, spoke of his personal journey from a high-school drop-out to an IT Professional & CEO of Shake Technologies. A panel discussion was led by one of ASK Academy's star youth council members, Reyce Judice, and this welcomed lively discussion from audience members. As the evening progressed, dozens of bay area professionals dropped in, with professions ranging from holistic health providers, to accountants and local politicians. The room buzzed with positivity as professionals discussed the vital need to give back to the community & act as a mentor to local youth.”

"Now that I attended my very first networking event, I am very enthusiastic about our hosting the next one. I was so engaged that I even missed all of the never-ending gourmet appetizers. It was fun to be part of this unique AND productive event. I especially enjoyed hearing the personal stories of "triumph over the odds" from those who are now committed to making changes in their own lives as well as volunteering to assist others. YES WE DID! “

Shakeel and Ask Academy

The Parks and Recreation Department sponsored 17th Annual Black History Festival was held on Saturday, February 7th. Through out the day all I heard

was how well everyone enjoyed the entertainment, great compliments about the vendors, especially the food booth vendors.

From Gumbo, Tea Cookies, Garlic Chickens, Beef Briskets to fried chicken, greens, hotlinks and white sweet potatoes pies.

Shakeel, I would like to thank you for your support, participation and the Ask

Academy for the two Gift Certificates that were raffled off.

The entire community came together and enjoyed the day’s festivities
