WECHSELSPIEL, A BUILDING FOR PERFOMING ARTISTWantedtobringthemovementintothebuilding,Idecidedtoanalogisethoseartistsasboxes.Now,howtomakethoseboxeslookliketheyaredancing,chanting,movingtogether?

Technically,inthisbuildingeveryindividualswouldhavetheirownprivatespaces:sleepingbox,studiobox.Theirsleepingboxesareattachedtotheirownstudios.However,onecanvisitanotherwithoutgoingoutfromthestudio,pastthesleepingbox,tothecommonareainthehouse,totakethemainstaircaseinthehouse,be-causeallthosestudioboxesarelinkedup.Also,theywouldhaveacommonstudioboxtopracticealltogetheronthetopfloorwhichisonlyaccessiblefrominsidethestudioboxes.

Study Case: Siedlung Halen, Herrenschwanden bei Bern, 1955-1961Atelier5,inspiredbythecityBernitself,triedtosetupresidentialcomplexthatlookslikeatraditionalEuropeancity,housesbythestreet.Theymanagedtoincorporatetheelementsofflexibilityandprivacyforeachindividualinto thisenvironment.Flexibility;all theentrances toeachapartments facing thenorth.Privacy;eachhouselocatedondifferentelevation.Ifwelookintothedetail,eachbuildingturnedouttohaveoftwodifferentapart-mentswithauniquelayoutsothateachindividual’sprivacycanbemaintained,asitcanbeseenonthepictureoftheconceptmodelIbuilt,alsoonthesectiondrawings.
