Ten Movies Turn Ten
Well, it’s mid-year and this year’s box office seems to be bursting to the brim with superheromovies, and not even just mildly successful ones, big box office hits. o what was the movie
scene li!e ten years ago"
#. The $eparted
Well, before %eo finally one his beloved &scar, he was in his third Martin corsese film, The
$eparted. What a time. $i'aprio, Matt $amon, Mar! Wahlberg and (ac! )icholson all beingdirected by Martin corsese. * wish * was old enough to experience the masterpiece in theaters.
*f you haven’t seen this cinematic masterpiece, it’s one of Martin corsese’s best films. $rop
everything. %iterally drop it all and go watch The $eparted immediately. This film has all the
actors your heart could ever want, a plotline that is so juicy, you’ll be confusing Matt $amon and%eonardo $i'aprio +* !now that sounds cray, but bac! in the day, they could have been twins.
ut seriously, this is one of the best films ever made. *f not for the sheer attention to detail, such
as corsese’s placement of /s on set before each death, watch it for the amaing story that *’m
promising you it has.
0. 1ailure to %aunch2emember when Matthew Mc'onaughey won an &scar" Well, his career was not all 3ids and
space ten years ago. Ten years ago, you were mostly li!ely to see Mc'onaughey in a chic! flic!
opposite arah (essica 4ar!er +bonus points for an early career movie for 5ooey $eschanel.1ailure to %aunch has a surprisingly recogniable cast with a not terrible plotline. *f you’re not
into corny chic! flic!s, stay away from this one, but it still gets me every once in a while.
Maybe it’s the adorable paintball scene or $eschanel’s !oo!y character, but this one will always
have a soft spot in my heart.
6. 3ccepted(ustin %ong, are you still alive" *n the midst of his Mac vs. 4' commercials, %ong busted outthis comedy classic, 3ccepted. This movie had la!e %ively and (onah 7ill long before they
were their famous selves. %i!e seriously, this movie came out before uperbad, the movie that
made (onah’s career +and Michael era’s for that matter. * haven’t watched 3ccepted since *’ve been in college, but *’m sure it’s simultaneously absurd and accurate. +Maybe that’s what *’ll
watch tonight.
8. 'ars5omg this 4ixar classic came out in 099:; * swear * was way younger when * saw 'ars, and
watched it 09 more times.

:. he’s the Man
* had no idea that 099: was the year for my prime movie releases. * mean, he’s the Man wasmy favorite movie for li!e five years. *f you’re not familiar with the movie, it’s a fantastic
modern adaptation of ha!espeare’s Twelfth night. 3nd it has non-cray 3manda ynes, and
before-he-was-famous 'hanning Tatum. Who doesn’t love a young 'hanning Tatum";
A. The $evil Wears 4rada
The $evil Wears 4rada is =uite possibly on of my favorite movies ever. With Meryl treep,3nne 7athaway and tanley Tucci, it’s almost impossible to go wrong. Who doesn’t love a
behind the scenes loo! at the fashion scene and a coming of age story about 3nne 7athaway.
)o, but seriously this movie is actually a classic and * have probably seen it 69 times.
B. &ver the 7edge
2emember that time ruce Willis voiced a !id’s movie" )o" Well, that’s exactly what happens
in &ver the 7edge. *t’s a super lame movie about rodents vs. the suburbs, but it’s decently
enjoyable. 7onestly, when it came out * watched it li!e ten times. * don’t !now what it is about099:, but all my favorite movies seemed to have come out.
