Tejas Eye Hospital Run by Divyajyoti Trust | Suthar Faliya , At & Po. Mandvi , Dist. - Surat - 394160 | Telephone No. 02623 - 221180, February-2016
This month, again we crossed 1000 mark. We have decided to restrict the per day surgical
load also to below 60. One glaucoma + retina specialist couple has joined us towards the
end of the month. Now, there will be two glaucoma specialists and two retina specialists.
“The simplest acts of kindness are by
far more powerful then a thousand heads
bowing in prayer.”
― Mahatma Gandhi
We had three presentations at recently concluded AIOC in Kolkata – two by Dr. Uday – school screening and documentation of sterili-
sation, one by Dr. Sheetal on comparision of four different techniques of doing tonometry. One physical poster and three e-posters were
also presented. Dr. Uday & Dr. Amish participated in the panel discussion on OT protocols alongwith Dr. Khurshid from Lucknow. The
panel discussion was also well received by the delegates and very fruitful discussion took place. Manual on “Prevention and treatment
of Endophthalmitis” prepared by Dr. Uday – Dr. Amish – Respected Dr. Nagpal sir- Dr. MAdhvi Sheth and Dr. Rajesh Patel was also
launched at the CIPLA stall by Resp. Dr. Nagpal sir. The manual looks good. Feedback from the fraternity will be awaited. This manual
is based on the one prepared at SEWA Rural in 2008.

Camp in News
Dr. Akash and Dr. Swapnil have gone to Bihar to attend the mega surgical camp organ-
ised by Bhansali trust. This is our small contribution to the mammoth task undertaken by
them.
Dr. Hetvi Desai from Surat has continued phacoemulsification training this month also.
Dr. Astha Desai and Dr. Ruta Parekh from Surat joined SICS training in this month.
The mega eye camp for KAPS was
organised between 21st to 24th Febru-
ary. 266 patients were screened. 95
patients have been referred for sur-
gery, by now, 87 operations have
been completed. The rest of the pa-
tients are coming one by one.
Evaluation
Dr. Uday had gone to Shamlaji to evaluate the quality of the cataract surgical services
being carried out there. Dr. Harenbhai Joshi and Dr. Pratimaben Tolat – our long time
well wishers and donors are running the CHC under a public private partnership there and
they had invited Dr. Uday. It was a learning experience to see what this wonderful couple
is doing there after coming back from USA and that too at 60+ age. Salutes to their spirits
and hard work.
