Tee Talk – October 2014
Page 1
From the President
I am happy to try to fill,
on an interim basis, the
rather large shoes that
Bruce Barman leaves
behind.
As Vice-President I
watched Bruce navigate
some treacherous
waters. He leaves us on
sound footing. Our
largest problem
currently is the pond
odor. While this is a
serious problem, it is not
on par with having no
water or going broke.
The next months until
the AGM will be action
packed for me. In
addition to the normal
duties of the president,
it is that time of year to
draw together budgets
for next year.
I have chosen to
continue as the Head of
House. This is somewhat
unusual, but I like what
I am doing in House. I
would like very much to
continue in this position
next year. In addition
to getting the
restaurant to run more
efficiently, I am having
fun with all the
possibilities that House
offers. I would like to
offer more classes. I am
looking for a tai chi
instructor and a
ballroom dancing
instructor. Basically, you
could say my heart is in
the House.
At the last board
meeting we appointed
two new directors. They
are Alan Henninsgaard
and Grant Morris. They
replace outgoing
director, John Cearnal,
and Past president,
Bruce Barman. John &
Juanita Cearnal are
moving back to the US.
John has given many
years of service as a
board member. He will
be missed.
My hat is off to both
Alan and Grant for
stepping up to the plate.
Hopefully, both of them
will choose to throw
their hats in the ring for
our next election.
That reminds me. It’s
not too early to start
considering what you
would like to do for our
Club in the coming year.
We are one of the few
all volunteer run golf
clubs. Therefore, to run
successfully, our club
requires volunteers.
Randy Cooper, our highly
effective treasurer, has
his house on the market.
He plans to relocate to
the US after the sale.
Tee Talk
That means the next
board will need a new
president and a new
treasurer.
And you thought juggling
House and the duties of
being president was
going to be a challenge!
Rodney Brooks
President, Chapala
Country Club Board of
Directors

"How was your golf game, dear?" asked Jack's wife Tracy.
"Well, I was hitting pretty well, but my eyesight's gotten so bad I couldn't see where the ball went."
"But you're seventy-five years old, Jack!" admonished his wife, "Why don't you take my brother Scott along?"
"But he's eighty-five and doesn't even play golf anymore," protested Jack.
"But he's got perfect eyesight. He could watch your ball," Tracy pointed out.
The next day Jack teed off with Scott looking on.
Jack swung, and the ball disappeared down the middle of the fairway. "Do you see it?" asked Jack.
"Yup," Scott answered.
"Well, where is it?" yelled Jack, peering off into the distance.
"I forgot."
A couple of buddies, decide to play together for the first time.
Bill is an avid golfer and Bob is new to the game. On the way to the course, Bill asks "By the way, what's your handicap?"
Bob replies,"I don't have one..it's more like a permanent disability"

An amateur just finished
his lessons with the golf pro and asked "so, how is my game?"
Pro says "you should shorten your clubs by 2 inches"
“So will that improve my game more then?” The lad asks.
“No, but it will make your clubs fit in the bin”.
"So it's raining a little," a husband exclaimed. "You and I aren't bothered by a little rain, are we?"
"Why is he telling you not to be bothered by a little rain? a visitor asked his wife.
"He's not talking to me," the wife replied. "He's talking to his golf bag."
Two methods of determining the quality of a golfer's shot can be made by watching golf club acceleration and de-acceleration . . . as the club goes back into the bag.
Why is it: If we hit a golf ball into the rough, everybody can tell us what we did wrong. If we hit a golf ball straight down the fairway, nobody can tell us what you did right.
BAR/FOOD BILLS Members and guests using the restaurant/bar are asked to request the bill for
their food and beverage orders before leaving.
All of your orders throughout the day (breakfast, a drink from the bar cart, an
after golf drink or meal) will be maintained and one bill will be printed for you
before you leave the club.
Account members need to ask to sign their bill and a copy will be given to them.
Social members and guests will be required to pay cash.
Please remember that tips are not included on your bill.
