E’ progettato per aumentare le prestazioni della vettura grazie a un collegamento diretto tra un microchip incorporato nel pneumatico e il computer di bordo del veicolo. Il sistema, messo a punto con la società Huf, uno dei principali produttori mondiali di sistemi di bloccaggio elettrico e meccanico, di sistemi di controllo della pressione e di sistemi telematici per l’industria automobilistica, si basa su un microchip senza batteria fissato all’interno del pneumatico. Ciò significa che le informazioni specifiche che riguardano il pneumatico possono essere integrate nel chip. Il posizionamento all’interno dello pneumatico fa sì che il chip non sia soggetto a danni durante la procedura di montaggio, rispetto ai sistemi montati sullo stelo della valvola. Quando gli automobilisti cambieranno pneumatici passando a coperture con i chip incorporati, continueranno a beneficiare del nuovo sistema. Goodyear Dunlop ha equipaggiato con questo nuovo sistema i pneumatici SportMaxx RT e lo sta attualmente testando per una possibile commercializzazione su vasta scala. In questa fase di sviluppo non è stato ancora pianificato un lancio specifico.
