Methodology and Consultation Process (2) Phase 1: Systematically update the definition of the top ten
most used terms of the 53 UNISDR-2009 terms • Statistical corpus-based usage analysis of the terms over 15 years • Observations:
– Most commonly used terms: Risk, Disaster, Response, Capacity, Hazard, Vulnerability, Mitigation, Preparedness, Prevention
– Terms with growing usage: Climate Change, Adaptation, Resilience – Most commonly used definitions: UNISDR-2009, Global Assessment Report,
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, International Organization for Standardisation (ISO)
Phase 2: Propose definitions for terms in the SFDRR Especially those used in the formulations of the scope and the targets.
– Review definitions produced in Phase 1 – Proposals for new definitions – Final result: definition proposals for 81 terms
