Have patience and consistency. Like humans dogs have

different learning abilities. Don’t be surprised that a lot of dogs can take weeks or months in mastering “heel” command. Puppies usually adapts more easily in wearing a collar or leash, although character, energy and temperament can influence the period of learning.

Five easy steps 1. Begin to teach a dog to walk on a leash by placing the collar and

lead on your dog while he is calm or while he eats. In this way, your dog will get distracted from the lead and makes him associate the leash with something that he loves (food).

2. After he gets used to the collar and lead, for two or three days, hold

the lead and follow her around the house or the yard for a few minutes. Gradually walk him around the house or a place that he is familiar with for longer periods each day until he’s accustomed with the lead and trotting beside you.

5. So now, what would you do if your dog starts to pull forward? If he tightens the leash, immediately stop and turn to your right side and walk to another direction, in this way the leash will pull him to the side and causing him to catch you up. Continue to practice this exercise until your dog always walks beside you. Encourage him by giving a lot of praises and reward when he wants to walk beside you.
