DaguerreotypeThe daguerreotype was the first successful photography machine, invented around 1837 by Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre. A daguerreotype is like a mirror, the image made is printed onto a silver metal plate. It must be handled delicately as it can smudge and ruin easily. The light angle is also very important, as it can change the picture from being positive to negative.

The daguerreotype was a slow and delicate process, that created poor, black and white images. Daguerreotypes could also only be afforded by the rich and wealthy. This was, however, was the best photographic process until the 1850s when other processes such as the Collodion and tintype replaced it.

Polaroid

Polaroid also known as the instant camera and is a type of camera that later became the first camera used for film.

The first instant camera was invented in 1923 by Samuel Shlafrock. However American scientist Edwin Land was the first to unveil the instant camera to the world.

The Camera uses a mixture of chemicals that create a more practical image that can be kept without being smudged or damaged easily, like the Daguerreotype.

DigitalA digital camera is a camera that can take pictures and record film and sound. Most cameras sold today are digital, and digital cameras are found in devices like mobile phones.

Digital and film cameras can zoom, and focus, which creates more interesting and higher quality photos. However, unlike film cameras, digital cameras can display images on a screen immediately after being recorded, and store and delete images from memory.. Some digital cameras can crop and do other image editing, such as the brightness, contrast and hue and saturation.
