• Makesurebeforeinstallingandremovingtherigidflangecoupling,theengineanddrivetrainhasbeensecuredagainstaccidentalactivation!Thismaydoneforexamplebyusingsigns,orbyremovingthefusesonthepowersupply(decommissioning).Rotatingpartsmaycauseseriousinjury.Alsofollowthenotesbelowundertheaspect„SafetyFirst“.
• Onlyusesuitable,approvedandtestedslingmeansfortransportingandinstallingtherigidflangecoupling!Donotstayinthehazardousarea!
• Duringtransportoftherigidflangecoupling,alongwithagearorsimilar,youhavetosecureitontheshafttopreventslipping,iftherigidflangecouplingisnotfirmlymounted!!
• Withanuprightstorage,youhavetotakecare,thattherigidflangecouplingcannotfalloverorroll.
• Neverstarttheclampingprocedurewithoutinsertedshaft!Thiscanresultindamagetotheflangeandtheshrinkdisc!
Youonlyallowedtomount,dismantleandusetherigidflangecouplingif:
• youhavecarefullyreadandunderstoodtheinstallationinstructions
• youhadtechnicaltraining
• yourcompanyauthorizedyoutodothat
You are only allowed to perform maintenance and repairs if you meet the above terms and arefamiliarizedwiththeproceduresused.The rigid flange couplingmust be used only in accordancewith their technical data. Constructivemodifications,withoutourapproval,arenotpermitted.Foranyresultingdamageweacceptnoliability.Wereservetherightfortechnicalchanges,iftheseservetodevelopmentorimprovesafety.Therigidflangecouplingdescribedhererepresentsthestateoftheartatthetimeofcreationofthismanual.

The rigid flange coupling is supplied ready forinstallation.
The force is transmitted via a frictional connectionbetweenthefunctionalsurfacesofshaftandflangehub.
Payattentiononapropertighteningoftheclampingscrewsandtheconditionofthecontactsurfaces.
Thetolerancesforshaftandflangeboreareobserved(see table).Fromthe recommendation deviating tolerances are to find on the order-relateddimensionsheet.

•Thecontactsurfacesbetweenshaftandflangehub(flangebore)mustbegrease-free,dryandcleantoensureasufficientlyhighcoefficientoffriction.
•Thefunctionalsurfacesoftheshrinkdisc,thescrewthreadandtheheadrestsarelubricatedatthefactory.
For delivery without pre-installed shrink disc or after disassembly:
•Thecontactsurfacesbetweentheflangehubandshrinkdisccanalsobegreasedoroiledpriortoassembly.(recommended)
•Forlargershrinkdiscstheinnerringisopionallyprotectedwithoiledpaper.Thismustberemovedbeforeassembly.
Preparation

Designwithbrakedisc
1.Positioningoftheflangecouplinghalfontheshaftasspecifiedintheassemblydrawing.Toincreasetheclearance,theflangemaybeevenlyheatedupto100°C.Removetheexistingtransportlocksbetween thepressure rings.Make sure that the shrinkdisc ispositionedentirelyon thecontactsurfacesbetweentheflangehubandshafttoavoiddamagingofthecomponents.Tofacilitatetheassembly,largeshrinkdiskscanbedisassembled.
2.Hand-tightenthescrewsoftheshrinkdiscuntiltheshrinkdiscsitsfreeofclearanceontheflangehub.Payattentiontotheparallelismofthepressurerings!
3.Duringfurtherclampingprocedureacircumferentiallyuniformgapsizebetweenthepressureringsistobeobserved.Forthispurposecheckthegapsizeatseveralpointsaroundthecircumference.

1.First,theflangesareseparatedfromeachother.Thescrewsareloosenedandremoved.Followingtheflangehalvesareseparated.Theexistingsupportthreadscanbeusedforforcingaparttheflan-ges.
Loosening of the shrink disc:
1.Loosenthescrewsevenlyoneaftertheother.Forthispurposeseveralcyclesarenecessarytoavoidanoverloadofthescrewwhenlooseningthepressurerings.Neverremovescrewsbeforetheshrinkdisciscompletelyrelaxed.Otherwise there is a high risk of accidents due to overloading of one individual screw!
2.Iftheshrinkdisccompletelyrelaxed,theshaftandflangehubcanbeseparatedfromeachother.
3.Pullofftheshrinkdiscfromflangehub.
Dismantling
Beforereuse,cleantherigidflangecouplingandchecktheperfectconditionofthecomponents.Thetransitionradiusbetweentheflangeandthehubmayhavetobeprovidedwithcorrosionprotection.Cleantheshrinkdiscsandchecktheperfectconditionofthecomponents.Alllubricationpointsmustbeprovidedwithnewlubricantsinaccordancewiththesemanual(see „Lubrication“).

Reuse of used rigid flange couplings
Defectflangecouplingsandshrinkdiscsmustbecleanedofgreaseandoilandbescrapped.
Ifyouareunsurewhetheryourrigidflangecouplingsorshrinkdiscsarestillusable,youcansendittousforreview/repair.Pleasecontactusinanycasebeforesending!
Repair / disposal
4.Forthefurthertighteningprocess,atorquewrenchorothersuitabletool/methodisused.Thescrewsareattractedinseveralcycles,step-by-step(25%, 50%, 75%, 100%).Thestandardtighteningtorque,seetheshrinkdiscandthecorrespondingdimensionsheet.Inspecialcases,thetighteningtorquemaybereduced,sothespecificationinthedimensionsheetismandatory!(if any)
5.Nowtightenthescrewsinorder. (The first stage can also be performed crosswise.)Aftereachcycleincreasetothenextstage.Isthemaximumtighteningtorqueofthescrewsreached,performano-ther2-3roundswiththesametorque.Istheproposedtighteningtorqueachievedatallscrews,theinstallationoftheflangecouplinghalfiscompleted.
6.Ifexistsabrakedisc,thisisnowinstalledasspecifiedintheassemblydrawing.
7.Now,theflangesarejoinedtogether.Thecontactsurfaceshavetobegrease-free,dryandclean.Thescrewsareattractedcrosswise inseveralstagesuntil thecorrespondingtighteningtorque isreached.
