For almost two decades, we at Stanbridge College have been working to provide quality education that bridges the gap between where people are and where they dream to be. As we rise to meet new challenges, we are reminded that it is our student body, beautifully diverse and unflinchingly bold, that makes our institution strong. Their stories, strengths and tenacity breathe life into our philosophy: that every person has the potential to soar, and when given the right tools, can learn to believe not only in themselves, but in others. This personal metamorphosis is what changes the world for the better, and we as educators are thrilled and honored to be a part of it.

We believe that the best healthcare goes far beyond the technology and charts - it focuses on every patient’s fundamental need for compassion and respect while receiving quality treatment. Stanbridge holds to this value in every facet of our nursing programs by combining service learning projects with hands-on training in advanced skills and simulation labs. As a result, students learn to think critically and respond intuitively in a real clinical environment while developing a perspective we believe essential to nursing: that a patient’s recovery depends on compassion and genuine human connection. We strive to graduate nursing students with this double-edge so they not only survive in the fast-paced world of nursing, but thrive and lead others in bettering the world of healthcare.

Whether it’s helping a victim of an accident learn to adjust to new circumstances or a star athlete get back in the game, therapy is about helping others overcome physical and mental limitations. It is being the source of someone’s drive to heal - to overcome life’s obstacles and live it to the fullest. We hold to the belief that excellent training throughout our Allied Health and Therapy programs will result in a better life for our graduates, and equally important, those they impact throughout their career. With advanced skills and simulation labs, a passionate faculty, and students who love what they do and where they’re going, we are able to accomplish a reflexive goal: to improve the lives of others, wherever life may find them.

With the frequency of patients diagnosed with end-stage renal disease, the demand for skilled Hemodialysis Technicians continues to rise. Students of our Hemodialysis Technician (HDT) program not only learn to provide life saving treatment to those with kidney complications, but to see patients as people who equally benefit from genuine personal connection. This approach to Hemodialysis training gives our graduates a firm grasp on the technical skills required to succeed in a career while maintaining sensitivity to each patient’s fundamental need for comfort, connection, and compassion.

To ensure our students get the best training for a career, we’ve built an HDT Skills Lab that replicates a real dialysis clinic, with the latest Fresenius 2008K Dialysis Machines and Cannulation arms. With a passionate faculty and these tools at our students’ disposal, each student graduates knowing their training will take them where they want to go both personally and professionally.

The bond between people and their pets has never been stronger. Animals of all sizes have increasingly become an important part of the family and their owners want the best when it comes to their health and well-being. At Stanbridge, we feel that compassion for those in need doesn’t stop with our fellow man. We advocate for the humane treatment of all living creatures in need and strive to instill this in each one of our Veterinary Technician students.

With an acute awareness of the growing advancements in veterinary medicine, we ensure our Veterinary Technician students are immersed in quality instruction and thorough, hands-on training with live animals, to support the diverse skill sets needed for their future profession. We feel a positive, communicative, and detail-oriented mind set will prepare students to advocate for their patients and counsel their owners. Students bring classroom concepts to life in our Veterinary Technology Skills Lab and while they learn with licensed veterinarians and veterinarian technicians in real animal shelters. Our goal is to graduate animal care providers of the future, whose genuine compassion is matched by their skill, critical thinking, and determination to improve the lives of those around them.

Veterinary Technology Courses1

The Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) is one of the final milestones required for all veterinary technician students to pass in order to become a Registered Veterinary Technician in the United States. Created by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards, the VTNE is focused on testing the student’s skills and knowledge of animal care and their ability to make decisions in various scenarios under critical conditions. The VTNE test requires that students understand the basic principles of veterinary care and apply this to different elements of animal safety management.

With a solid scientific foundation, the Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology degree program prepares students to be advocates for their patients. Courses including Anatomy and Physiology of Animals, Veterinary Microbiology, Parasitology and Pharmacology immerse students in the mechanics of animal biology. Diagnostic Imaging, Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia, and Surgical Nursing and Dentistry give them everyday tools for care. Learning how to care for small, large, and exotic animals ensures students are prepared for every type of paw, hoof, or wing they encounter.

Veterinary Technology students are also given consistent, hands-on training in Veterinary Clinical Procedures. Working with live animals both in the Veterinary Technology Skills Lab and off-site at partner hospitals and rescues puts theory to practice and allows students to learn how real animals communicate their needs. With comprehensive review at the end of each term, students are prepared for their career, the demands of a dynamic industry, and more importantly, the chance to make a difference for their community.

Aid

Furthering your education is both a commitment and an investment that will have lifelong returns. A diploma or degree will open doors to greater career opportunities and increase your earning potential. We understand that funding this investment can be overwhelming, which is why Stanbridge College has a Financial Aid team that will walk you through your options and help you decide on the best financial aid package.

Our Financial Aid team is there to support you as you fill out your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and plan your financial aid package. Stanbridge College has the following Financial Aid programs available to those who qualify.

Federal Pell GrantThe Federal Pell Grant program provides a foundation of financial aid to which additional aid programs may be added. Unlike a loan, Federal Pell Grants do not need to be repaid.

Federal Direct LoansFederal Direct Loans are low-interest loans available to students enrolled at least half-time. This type of funding must be repaid. The student however does not begin repayment until six months after leaving school.

Federal Direct Parent (PLUS) LoansPLUS loans enable parents to borrow funding to assist in paying the educational expenses for a dependent student enrolled at least half-time. Within sixty days of the final disbursement of funding parents must begin repayment of these loans.

Sallie Mae LoansSmart Option student loans are an ideal solution for students who still need funds after they have maximized grants, scholarships, and federal loans.

Cal GrantsCal Grants are awarded by the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC). Cal Grant A, B and C are awarded based on enrollment status and GPA during the award year. Students must be eligible based on their established income, assets and the results of a current FAFSA. Grants are awarded from the State of California and do not have to be repaid.

With a robust and growing nursing program, our students are eager to apply their knowledge in real-time and make a contribution to the community as developing medical professionals. Whether it’s providing immunizations at flu clinics, donating blood to the American Red Cross or training to be medical reserve nurses, Stanbridge students display teamwork and incredible passion for serving the healthcare community.

In a community of plenty there are many without shelter or food, and rather than look the other way, we’ve chosen to fight the local poverty epidemic - one meal, blanket and suitcase at a time. Donation drives provide the hungry with food and other supplies. Community build days help maintain shelters that keep those without a home out of the cold. Serving food at soup kitchens allows students and staff of Stanbridge to offer the warmth of a meal and a much-needed human connection. These events have become an extension of our purpose here at Stanbridge, where learning and a concern for others are fostered together.

We believe that there is no greater service than putting your life in harm’s way to protect our Nation’s liberty - a liberty that makes our vision for education and investing in our future possible. To support the troops and aid in our national cause, Stanbridge holds donation drives for military families and assembles care packages for those fighting oversees. Our responsibility, however, is not limited to those on active duty: Stanbridge holds school-wide fundraisers for veterans, who after their service have fallen on difficult times. We believe it a small gesture in light of what these men and women have given up, but in many cases, a little hope means everything.

While heavily invested in serving our local community, Stanbridge finds a myriad of opportunities to contribute to people in need around the globe. Our partnership with Doctors Without Borders - Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) makes possible the medical treatment of critically impoverished people living in abject conditions all over the world. Our work with Shelter Box aids in providing relief for those devastated by natural disaster - as in the 2011 tsunami in Japan. In all of it, our students develop what we consider one of the most important facets of success: compassion. By involving themselves in the crucial reality of human need, students learn to see beyond themselves, discover and meet the needs of others, and graduate with a genuine sense of duty to humankind, whatever their profession.
