What Do You Need To Build a Website?

I prepared this simple step-by-step eBook to help you start your own

business either as an affiliate marketer or by selling your own

products through a website.

Please keep in mind one important thing: if you are just starting,

choose your niche carefully and focus on creating just one website.

Don’t start creating multiple websites at a time because you will not

achieve any goal, you will get frustrated and you will abandon in a

glitch.

Just a little insight of how I started: I knew nothing at all about

building websites, SEO, email marketing and all that kind of stuff you

might have heard of. I thought it was too complicated and that only a

few people made money online. I was wrong…

Fortunately, one day, I research how to start an online business and

here I am, earning money with my websites and products, so I’m

really proud and happy with all my achievements. I will never forget

my first $47 earned with an Amazon product. It was really awesome!

So, things been said, understand that there are 3 important things

that you will need to create your website, so keep reading to next

page to know them!

1. Hosting

Hosting is a service that is live 24 hours a day and which hosts all of

your information, like your text and images. This allows people to get

access to your website online. Without a hosting, your website would

come up blank if somebody searches for it.

2. Domain Name

Domain Name is the name you will give to your website. So, for

example, it should be something like YourBusiness.com or

YourName.com. Just choose one that represents correctly your niche.

3. Install WordPress

WordPress is a content management system (CMS) or in other words,

a website building platform.

Thanks to WordPress, the process of building a website was simplified

and HTML codes were not mandatory anymore.

“59.1% of the websites are created with WordPress”

It is a user-friendly platform where you will be writing your content,

putting images, videos, offer products, etc.

So… let’s start straight away!

How to Build a Free Website

Building a website is very easy even if you don’t have any experience

at all. I will be showing you a Step-By-Step guide on how to create a

website for free. So by the end of this tutorial, you will have a website

up and running! Just follow these 3 simple steps:

1. Signing Up To Free Platform

The platform I use to create free websites is called Wealthy Affiliate.

This is a free platform which offers many cool pieces of training to

start an online business and it also provides you with free website

creation, free hosting, and free domain name. First sign up Here. You

should be getting to a Home page like this:

2. Go To Site Builder

Once inside, just go to the “Site Rubix” section on your left. A drop-

down menu will be displayed, so just click the “Site Builder” option as

on below image:

3. Complete The Last 4 Steps!

Step 1: Choose “Free Website” option. Brainstorm a Domain Name

and check if it’s available (Side note: you can create 2 free websites

with your free account).

Step 2: Choose the Name you want to show in your Title. (Don’t

worry, this can be changed afterward)

Step 3: Choose a WordPress Theme. As this is a free account, you

have up to 12 themes to select. Premium members have +2,100

themes.

Step 4: Hit the “I’m ready, Build My Website Now!” button. Wait 5

seconds and your website is there!

After your website is created, you will get to your website dashboard.

How to Build a Paid Website

I will show you 2 ways you can get a paid website. One through

the Wealthy Affiliate platform and the other through an

independent web hosting service called BlueHost.

1. Wealthy Affiliate Paid Website

Let’s start with the easiest one which is the Wealthy Affiliate

Platform. There is only 1 step to do, in addition to the ones of the

free website (explained above). This additional step is called:

Domain Name Purchase.

You can either buy a Domain Name on Wealthy Affiliate platform

or through my other recommended site NameCheap.

On the Wealthy Affiliate Platform you will need to go to “SiteRubix”

and select “SiteDomains” as shown below:

Now, you should choose a domain name of your preference and

check its availability. Bear in mind that there will be lots of

extensions but the best ones are: “.com”; “.net” and “.org”.

Once you have your domain name, you can repeat the same steps

as on the free website but instead of choosing “Free Website”,

choose “On a Domain I own”:

YourDomainName.com

You can also buy a Domain Name through NameCheap. If you

prefer to do it this way, you will have to add the domain you

bought on the “Add Domain” section (Remarked in red on below

image)

Which is the cost of setting a paid website through

Wealthy Affiliate?

Membership = $47 per month for unlimited websites or $350

yearly.

Domain Name = $0.8 – $1.2 per month (between $10-$15

which is billed annually).

Total Fee = approximately $48 per month or $360 per year.

The membership price includes Trainings, video classes, technical

support on your website, live support, Keyword Tool, Hosting, an

email account for your website, traffic formula and many more.

2. BlueHost

Another option to build a paid website is through Bluehost which is

the #1 hosting service company. Here you will do everything on

your own. There will be no training, no tools and no support with

your website and business, so I only recommend this option for

very advanced marketers. Just follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to www.Bluehost.com and click the “Get started now”

button. If you click here, you will get one free domain. This

discount applies to “.com” and “.org” domains.

Step 2: Choose the cheapest hosting package ($3.49 per month)

and domain name for your website.

Step 3: Complete your personal information to complete the

registration process.

Step 4: Select the package that best suits you (if you are just

starting, the best option is the $3.49 price). There are some

additional services which I recommend as “Domain Privacy

Protection” and “Site Backup Pro”, but you can unclick them too if

you like.

With Domain Privacy, your personal information will stay

anonymous.

With Site Backup Pro, you will be able to backup all your website

information easily and avoid losing it.

Once registered, you will be able to start building your website, so

next step will be to install WordPress. So, let’s move to this step.

Step 5: Once inside your Bluehost dashboard, you have to click on

“Install WordPress” icon. See image below:

Step 6: Now you should have been redirected to “Mojo

Marketplace”, so click on Install (it’s Free) as on image below:

Step 7: Choose the domain you have chosen in Step 2 and click on

“Check Domain” and click “Continue”.

Sometimes, it might happen that a pop-up message appears

saying “It looks like files already exist in that location”. Don’t worry,

just click “Continue” and overwrite it.

This might take some minutes, so be patient. Once installed, you

are done! You will be given all credentials to log into WordPress:

Log into the “Admin URL” and insert your “Username” &

“Password” to get into the WordPress Dashboard as shown on

page 6 of this Ebook:

Free Website vs. Paid Website

There is a huge competitive advantage of having the ownership of

your own Domain Name. For example, a Paid website should look

something like “YourName.com” while a free website would look

something like “YourName.siterubix.com”.

If you want to make affiliate marketing your serious business, then

paid websites are the way to go. I mean, you should think it as an

investment rather than an expense.

Nonetheless, I highly encourage you to start with your free website

for you to learn how everything works. Play with all the features,

explore WordPress and get used to it. There are limitations with free

websites, but you can give it your own style.

You should also take advantage of the free training that Wealthy

Affiliate provides. It’s a great starting point and there are lots of

guides you can learn from. The community within Wealthy Affiliate

has a lot of expertise and it is always ready to provide support (either

something technical with your website or any problem you have).

Tips and Important Aspects

I want to give you some further tips for your first website. To get

ranked in search engines like Google, Yahoo or Bing, you should

always have in mind 3 important aspects. These are:

1. Page Speed & Load Time

47% of visitors expect a web page to load in 2 seconds or less.

40% of people abandon a website that takes more than 3

seconds to load.

In the last page, I will give you some more tools you can use to

improve your website speed. So keep on reading!

2. Responsive & Clean Design

A website should be attractive for your visitors. This means that your

website should have nice colors, fonts, and design.

Also, your website should be mobile responsive. According to

Google, there are more visitors coming from mobiles than from

desktops nowadays, so you won’t like to lose these potential clients.

3. Quality Content

Quality content is another very important aspect of a website. You

should always provide your audience with good information, unique

and relevant.

Don’t ever copy & paste content from another website as search

engines penalize this bad behavior. Just lead by example and you will

see the benefits in the long run.

If you take these into consideration you will be ranked very well in

search engines and visitors will like to read your site.

After downloading your images, make sure to compress them. This

avoids taking out load speed to your website. I use
