Reasoning:I am championing the virtues of HTML5 responsive website development within existing websites over native APP development. For cost management and maintenance. I believe that for most companies a responsive website design is the best approach for mobile device users.

My name is Jay Hill, I am a Director of t2 Studios and have been in the advertising and media industry for over 20 years.

I Started out as an apprentice photographer and later moved over to the reprographics industry in the early 90s. I specialised in colour and was lucky to work with many of the top London agencies of that time working on projects for Hagen Daz, Harrods, Ford, Silk Cut and the fashion pages for The Times Saturday Review.

With software colour technology taking over from hardware based colour computers, flatbed scanning became the norm and the journeyman career as we knew it became obsolete.

I guess the journey to keep up with technical evolution started at this point and is with me to this day.

Established in 1998 t2 Creative Studios are a team of home grown talent that are passionate about all things creative in today’s multi-channel agency environment.

We are design led and technology inspired.

With advances in the market rapidly changing the way we consume online information, today’s website browsers are being developed with a common standard in mind, namely “HTML5”. The core focus has shifted away from the plugin architecture which helped FLASH become widely accepted, until a few years ago, when Apple’s strategy no longer included support for this type of media across key consumer products such as iPad and iPhone.

HTML5 brings new opportunities for security, animation and responsive frameworks.

The humble browser has become a powerful delivery tool for SAAS (software as a service) by combining smart server pages with framework technologies such as Microsoft .NET. Added to this mix are the latest cloud solutions giving you enormous potential for cross platform online content delivery.

It is no longer a clear cut decision when considering native APP development over website delivery.

Up until now, It is fair to say that for many talented creatives, delivery was not their primary concern. t2 Creative Studios looks far deeper and our strategy is based around the fundamental principles of wider reach and content delivery!

Responsive WebsitesThe common standard

You have access to what was only available to big corporates in the past with vast cash reserves.

The same high street! albeit digital, Why not present your offering to as many people as possible in the most appropriate manner?

For many companies their website make or breaks first impressions and can add value for visitors with sticky features that serve the users’ requirements. Whatever product or service you have, you can’t afford to neglect this 21st century shop front.

Imagine if a high street shop doorway on Oxford Street in London was only designed to allow entry for 6 foot slim people?

Sorry – You will have to scan the QR code and download and login to our slimming service to enable you to view our products!

Say goodbye to the majority of your clients.

A bit extreme but I hope you get the point!

Market Place The same high street – Digital!

SEO, SEM, Advertising through AdWords or relevant promoted content creation is your best ploy to being found. No doubt.

Once found what then?

If you go to the trouble of advertising, search engine optimisation and goal tracking, why reduce your chances of conversion by not allowing your visitors access to your products and services?

A corner of your website, or a broken page that doesn’t make sense, or perhaps a tiny thumbnail of a large scrolling page with all of your content only visible to an ant is not the way to go.

Goodbye return on investment!

Market PlaceThe market opportunity – Once found what then?

Should you ignore native APPs for engagement? – No, ofcourse not!

Before you create a new channel to manage, consider your existing offering and the possibility of improving the users’ experience for mobile devices.

It is true that many users don’t bother with the find me, scan me, login to download me and login to access me approach and so in sales terms, you can go from a warm lead to losing contact! Frantic attempts to push for “please use/download our APP” become intrusive and the “point of sale or point of interest” is lost.

Perhaps you should give consideration to HTML5, responsive website design. With mobile networks improving all the time and connectivity getting quicker on mobile devices, you have the ability to manage one platform “your website” for all devices.

This strategy approach can also help you build up an analytical view to see where your next investment should go toward. Based on engaged user habits these insights are extremely valuable.

Strategy gone wrong (case study):

The Company: A large internet retailer / ecommerce

The Service: Responsive website & Mobile APP deployment

The Strategy: Online shopping

Responsive Website: User able to buy clothes online. (Great!)

Limitations of the APP: The Native APP takes users back to the website for purchases! After download what is the point?

Having your hard won shoppers login to download, install and login to access the product listings through a native APP why would you then make them exit the APP and visit the online responsive shop to make a purchase.

The responsive website is the key and the APP is simply a hurdle in the way of a transaction.
