❖ Provide opportunity to: ❖ Discuss stewardship topics of interest ❖ Meet delegates from other parishes ❖ Experience the power of learning from each other

2016 Synod Session mechanics ❖ Delegates who have pre-selected their conversation topics, move to a numbered table
featuring their topic. ❖ Other delegates, choose a topic, and move to a numbered table featuring this topic. ❖ Each table selects a note-taker for recording the conversation (no verbal reporting
required). ❖ Tables initiate their own conversations for 45 minutes. ❖ Note-takers leave notes on table at the end of the session. ❖ Stewardship Subcommittee is available to help.

burnout? 2. How do we promote legacy giving in our parish? 3. What ways of giving is our parish using? How is our parish adjusting to electronic
giving options? 4. How do we start and run a stewardship pledge campaign? Why should we run such a
campaign? 5. How are we deliberately working to improve our parish hospitality and welcoming? 6. How do we deal with donor fatigue? 7. How can we incorporate Embracing God’s Future into our stewardship pledge
campaign? 8. What stewardship challenges face rural or small congregations? 9. How are we promoting stewardship among children and youth?

Youth participants engaged with an issue and prepared a presentation for the final two Large Group Gatherings, to share what they’d learned with the rest of the group. In the Try It session, Home Team Leaders and youth learned about an issue together so that they could bring new knowledge back to their home congregations.

Motion
It is moved by Canon Monica Patten and seconded by Rev. Mark Whittall
that Synod approve the case for support and the implementation of Giving Hope: The Diocesan Annual Appeal in 2017, and request that a report be presented at next year’s Synod meeting.
Motion
It is moved by the Rev. Monique Stone and seconded by Irene Barbeau
that this synod give $20,000.00 to the General Synod of the Anglican Church of Canada, from the Residential Schools Settlement Agreement refund issued to the Diocese of Ottawa, for the implementation of the Primate’s call for a national gathering of Indigenous and Non-Indigenous peoples.

that Synod appoint the firm of Deloitte & Touche LLP as auditors for the 2016 financial statements of The Incorporated Synod of the Diocese of Ottawa.

It is moved by the Lay Secretary and seconded by the Rev. Jonathan Askwith
that Synod accept the minutes of the 135th session of Synod, as adopted by the Committee to Review the Minutes, and approve them for publication in the Synod Journal.
