Students will be assessed on the material presented in class, which must be recorded in their daily notes. Students may reference a hard copy of lessons during my student hours if they would like to check their notes or review missed material. Students will work from two textbooks in this class:
The American Republic: To 1877. This will be the textbook used in the study of U.S. History, to 1877. Each student will have a copy of this textbook checked out to them in the first week of school. The student is to take the textbook home to be available for reading as part of their study. They do not have to bring this textbook to school each day.
Lone Star: The Story of Texas. This will be the textbook used in the study of Texas History and students will not be receiving a checked‐out copy for personal use. There will be a classroom set of this textbook and it will be used while students are in class when called on by me.
I will show a number of videos during the school year. These may be complete movies, documentary series, educational videos, or parts thereof which provide a proper historical context to what the students are learning at the time.
