Lucky number 4

• Four-leaf clover (克洛弗 )• Clovers have 3 leaves• If you see one with 4, it’s good

luck!

Black cats

• If a black cat walks in front of you, it’s bad luck!

• People used to think black cats were witches (女巫 )

Cross your fingers

• If you cross your fingers when you make a wish (愿望 ), it will come true

• “I wish for a new car for my birthday, please!”• Your fingers look like a cross (十字架 )

Broken mirror

• If you break a mirror, it’s bad luck for 7 years!• The mirror sees your soul (灵魂 )

Number 13

• Number 13 is bad luck • Friday the 13th is the bad luck day. The scariest

day of the year!• This year is September 13, 2013

Knock on wood

• You knock (敲 ) on wood when you don’t want something bad to happen

• Crosses (十字架 ) are wood• “I hope we don’t get sick today. Knock on

wood.”• “This test is going to be easy. Knock on wood.”

Don’t open the umbrella!

• Don’t open umbrellas inside – it’s bad luck!• I don’t know why! Maybe because it’s

dangerous?
