We will honor our 7th Decade parishioners at the 10:00 worship service in the Church, say goodbye to Valerie and Bob, and enjoy a stupendous reception in the Garden Cloister. Tomorrow, The Very Rev. DALLAS SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER AT THE FORUM – FAITH AND SOCIETY

NEXT SUNDAY. Miguel Solis, a member of the Dallas School District Board, will address The Forum – Faith and Society next Sunday, October 4, at 10:00 in the Saint Michael Chapel. Solis was elected to the Dallas School Board in 2013 and served as its president in 2014.

LAST WEEK FOR BACKPACKS 4 KIDS. Backpack 4 Kids provides weekend food for at-risk children. One in 3 children in Dallas Public Schools qualify to receive the weekend backpack. Give generously, $5 a week, $20 a month, $200 for the 40 week school year or $260 for an entire year. Checks, cash, and credit cards are accepted.

PRIME TIMERS LEARN ABOUT DALLAS FARMERS MARKET AND ITS NEW LOOK

HELP OUR INTERIM RECTOR – WEAR YOUR NAMETAG. You may know everyone in the Church, but our Interim Rector Doug Travis doesn’t. He starts his ministry with us tomorrow, and a great way to help welcome him is to wear your nametag. If you need a new one, the receptionist in the South Lanai will make it for you. Wearing your nametag will help Doug (and others) get to know you.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AT JUBILEE PARK, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6. Be a part of one of the largest National Night Out celebrations at Jubilee Park on Tuesday, October 6 from 5:00 to 8:00. It’s an opportunity to support crime prevention, police-community partnerships, and have fellowship with Jubilee Park residents. We need volunteers to help with the evening’s events. GOOD SHEPHERD’S ANNUAL MEETING AND LUNCHEON OCTOBER 8. Saint Michael’s Good Shepherds, the neighbor-helping-neighbor ministry, will have its Annual Meeting and Luncheon Thursday, October 8 at 11:30 in the Youth Center. STRESS RELIEVER “SIP ‘N’ DOODLE” SCHEDULED OCTOBER 11.  How about a nice cup of tea, yummy snacks, some relaxing music, and coloring? The adult coloring book trend, the new stress reliever, is available at Saint Michael. All you need to bring is yourself, your need for relaxation, and good conversation. Spend a lovely, no-stress, Sunday afternoon at Sip ‘n’ Doodle  October 11 at 2:00 in the Edge Room. This is an adult-only gathering. Childcare is available by reservation. NATIVITY PAGEANT TRYOUTS SET FOR OCTOBER 11. Tryouts for 3rd through 8th grade children for this year’s Nativity Pageant will be held Sunday, October 11 between 12:00 Noon and 2:00 p.m. and between 4:00. and 6:00. All children who tryout will get a part in the production. If your child is between 3 years old and 2nd grade, they already have a part, you just need to get them registered at www.saintmichael.org/nativity. Mark your calendar: the pageant will be Sunday, December 20.

SINGLE – N – SAINTS MOVIE & DINNER NIGHT. You are invited to join the Single – N – Saints for a movie and dinner Saturday, October 10 at Mockingbird Station at North Central Expressway and Mockingbird. Meet at 4:30 at the Angelika Film Center for the movie, and for dinner at the Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom. Show-up for the show, food, and fun.

MISSION AND OUTREACH GRANT APPLICATIONS ARE DUE OCTOBER 1. Applications for Mission and Outreach Grants must be submitted by Thursday, October 1. The application form, grant eligibility, and how to submit an application, are available on our website at www.saintmichael.org/mo.

HELP COOK OR SERVE AT AUSTIN STREET SHELTER. We need volunteers October 6 and 7 to either cook or serve at the Austin Street Shelter for the homeless. We cook Tuesday evening at 5:30 in the Parish Hall Kitchen, and serve the meal Wednesday evening at 5:30 at the Shelter. If you can help cook on Tuesday, contact Randy Rekerdres at randy@rek-ins.com. WOMEN’S CANCER SUPPORT GROUP. Meets regularly on Mondays at 1:45 in the Parlor to offer support to those who have or who are recovering from the disease.
