SUNDAY MORNING SERMON SERIES
Sermons from the Book of Daniel
Living for God when Cultures Collide
Daniel found himself in a foreign land facing an unusual culture, yet he remained faithful to God. As Christians now living in what many describe as a “post-Christian” world, we find ourselves in a foreign place engulfed by a strange culture that is often hostile toward Christianity. We are aliens and exiles. But our calling hasn’t changed. This sermon series will use the story of Daniel as a platform for discovering how we can live for God when cultures collide.

OFLIFEGrowing in Christ Through Each Stage of LifeLife in the human body was never meant by God to be the full extent of our existence. He has something else planned. Something better. Something eternal. But while we are here in these bodies, living these lives, we experience many different opportunities and challenges unique to the various stages of life. This Sunday evening preaching series will explore some of those opportunities and challenges as we better understand how we all grow and mature in Christ through each of the “seasons” of life, from childhood to the Golden Years.

ATTENDANCE REPORT: January 22, 2017
What is the SAM ministry and who is it? Typically we are 60 and better—retired or close to retirement, with a passion to help others. We have over 400 in this wonderful stage of life in our church family. We call this “Seniors Actively Ministering” (SAM) at their own pace. We love to have fun times and join together to have a lasting impact on Christ’s kingdom.
Sometimes service is routine and scheduled, for example serving in our hospitality ministry, visiting, taking communion to shut-ins, volunteering at Search TV (usually once a month as a group), and helping at Monday for the Master.
Other times of service occur when the opportunity arises. Some examples include making or serving food for funerals, helping around the church building during the week, providing transportation for others, participating in FriendSpeak, serving at UR Special several times a year, helping with the directory, being a Marriage Mentor, and working at Mission Oklahoma or Mission Edmond.
We would love for you to be “actively ministering” and connecting to the body of Christ. If you haven’t already, fill out a ministry form—available in the foyer. Please see other opportunities in the bulletin and on the SAM blog (edmondsam.blogspot.com).
