1.29.17 – “Christian Morality”
A recent poll found three-fourths of Americans saying moral values in the United States are
getting worse. Why is America becoming more immoral? We want to explore the causes of
America’s moral decline and what we can do about it.

1 Corinthians 1:10-18 (NKJV)
10 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same
thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same
mind and in the same judgment. 11 For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by
those of Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you. 12 Now I say this, that each of you
says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas,” or “I am of Christ.” 13 Is Christ divided?
Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
14 I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,15 lest anyone should say that I
had baptized in my own name. 16 Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas. Besides, I do not
know whether I baptized any other. 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel,
not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.
18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being
saved it is the power of God.

Dear Brethren,
Once again we would like to thank you for the help
you give by contributing groceries and supplies to
Hope Harbor.
Your gifts of food make more of a difference than
you may possibly imagine. Saving Hope Harbor tens
of thousands of dollars each year, while also showing
the children, in such a different way that Christians
care enough to provide for their basic needs.

Matthew 2:16-18 (NKJ)
Matthew 4:12-23 (NKJ)
16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men. 17 Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying: 18 “A voice was heard in Ramah, Lamentation, weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, Refusing to be comforted, Because they are no more.”
12 Now when Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, He departed to Galilee. 13 And leaving Nazareth, He came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali, 14 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: 15 “The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles: 16 The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death Light has dawned.” 17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” 18 And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19 Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 They immediately left their nets and followed Him. 21 Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them, 22 and immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him. 23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in
their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.
