  • Summer Outdoor Activities - Falkirk Community Trust 2015


    The Outdoor Activities team have been running our Youth Adventure Programme for over 17 years. This year has all your favourite activities in some of Scotlands best locations. Some of our activities include Canoeing in the Trossachs National Park, Rock Climbing in the Southern Highlands and River Kayaking through the Perthshire hills. Our quali ed instructors are able to take full advantage of what Scotland has to off er. A fantastic day is guaranteed, just bring your sense of adventure.

    Our exciting activities run throughout the summer holiday period. We have activities to suit everyone with a exible programme to ensure you dont miss out on the action.

    This year all our activities will take place at either our Victoria Buildings base, Action Outdoors Centre or the Helix lagoon. Individual days and adventure weeks are available and we

    will be o ering hour long instructor lead sessions at the Helix.

    Our Victoria Building based activities will take place away from the Falkirk area taking in some spectacular scenery in challenging adventurous surroundings. Action Outdoors sessions are ve full day activities where the participants have to book up for the whole week. Some of these sessions will be away from the Falkirk area. And our Helix sessions are delivered locally to minimise your time spent travelling and maximise your time out on activity.

    This summer we will once again be o ering a childcare element to the service at Victoria Buildings and Action Outdoors by opening our doors at 0830 in the morning and remaining open until 1700 after the activity has ended. During non-activity time participants will be closely supervised at the centre. Our activities all begin at 0900 and end at 1630.

    Venues:For some courses the venues are not speci ed this is due to the nature of the activities and possibility of change

    Activity Levels:Our Activity courses are graded so everyone can get the most enjoyment out of their day. Please try to avoid booking onto a course above the participants ability level.

    If you are unsure about the course levels please contact the Victoria Buildings centre.

    Please Note: We only take bookings on receipt of payment, we cannot accept provisional bookings over the phone Con rmation of booking will be sent to your address, you will only hear further from us if your course has to be altered. We require an original medical form at the centre before the activity takes place. Please ensure this is sent in to Victoria Buildings prior to the activity date.

  • Our Adventure Days Summer Outdoor Activities - Falkirk Community Trust 2015

    CanoeingBig boats equal big fun. Come and try it out, or if youve been in one before, improve your skills on one of our local lochs. You might even visit a cave, an island or a ruined castle.

    Kayaking You may get wet, you will pick up skills and you will have a whole lot of fun. Our loch based kayaking courses are a great way to explore some stunning areas.

    River KayakingA day for more experienced kayakers. You will need to be con dent in water and have a skill level above beginner. If you havent worn a spray deck before try our beginners kayaking course rst before booking for a river trip.

    White Water RaftingUp to eight people in a raft for some serious fun down one of Scotlands classic rivers. Getting wet is guaranteed along with the fun. Open to all abilities with a sense of adventure.

    Rock climbing / AbseilingRock climbing at a local crag or if the weather isnt good we will go indoor climbing. We can take anyone from absolute beginners to budding mountaineers. How high can you climb? How hard a route can you do? How big an abseil can you manage? Find out this summer.

    Gorge WalkingThis is our easiest rock and water activity. Its a challenge to scramble up a steep river where there may be waterfalls and jumps. Its great fun and very popular

    CanyoningExploring bigger canyons, where committing jumps and using ropes to abseil are essential to get down safely. For the more experienced adventurer only.

    CoasteeringClimb, jump and swim along a beautiful stretch of coast on this action packed adventure. You dont have to be a strong swimmer to enjoy this activity and all the jumps are optional.

    Five Days of AdventureIf you book ve activity courses with us we charge you the cost of four. For instance you may want to book on ve mountain bike days over the whole period or you may want to come along every day of the same week and take part in whats on o er that week either way if you book ve separate courses for the same young person in the same booking it will cost 112.

    BlokartingRacing along, powered by the wind, inches above the ground this is a fantastic experience. We really need the wind for this activity to run so if its a calm day we will do another activity instead. Mountain BikingMountain biking on single track terrain. This summer we will run bike sessions to suit all needs, from beginner to more experienced riders. For those who want to explore a little further we are running a mountain biking expedition.

    BushcraftLearn a bit about surviving in the woods, build shelters, light a re and get involved in a whole lot of fun! Based in Muiravonside Country Park this course will appeal to anyone who just loves being out of doors.

  • This summer, we are off ering unique fun activity camps that run all week where you get the chance to take part in canoeing, kayaking, biking, kayak and achieve your Paddle Power and Start Award.

    This summer Falkirk Community Trust Outdoor Activities will be delivering activities on the Helix lagoon. We will be off ering instructor lead activities for young people and families to try

    Canoeing - Introductory 1hr sessions in our open canoes for beginners. No experience required learn how to control the boat and how teamwork makes life easier.

    Kayaking - Introductory 1hr sessions in our kayaks for beginners. No experience required learn the skills needed to have fun on the water.

    If you want to improve your skills we will be running SCA Paddlepower Awards, practical lessons where progress is certi cated. This course runs to Scottish Canoe Association standards.

    The ve Paddlepower Awards are: Start, Passport, Discover, Explore and Excel

    Each award builds on the last to help the paddler become more con dent and skilled on the water. These courses run regularly throughout the holiday period. There will be morning and afternoon sessions. We envisage an informal club element developing for regular participants.
