Summer is a well-loved season for many reasons. People take advantage of this period to get out of the city and travel the world. For some, travelling gives one a new and deeper perspective of their surroundings and, in a sense, of life, while for others, travelling is a chance to reconnect with loved ones who live miles away from them. This edition of Kapuso Abroad touches on both as it shares some of our Kapuso artists’ experiences overseas and brings Filipinos closer to home by introducing the newest offerings of GMA that would surely warm the hearts of our kababayans who are missing the Philippines.

This issue will take its readers to places through its travel-oriented stories. Join Lovi Poe and Rocco Nacino tour Europe, and plan your backpacking trip around the Philippines with the help of GMA’s travel programs. Get the first scoop on the intriguing show starring GMA Primetime royalty Dingdong Dantes and Lovi Poe, who will be joined by our newest Kapuso and Diamond Star Maricel Soriano. See the lighter side of our Kapuso Dads such as Howie Severino, Cesar Apolinario, Ivan Mayrina, Jay Taruc, and Jiggy Manicad, and get to know the freshest crop of young Kapuso artists to watch out for.

Indeed, mainit ang summer ng Kapuso with many events and big program launches coming our way. GMA International is joining not only our jet-setting subscribers but also those who will be celebrating Philippine Independence Day in various parts of the globe. Through our three international channels, GMA Pinoy TV, GMA Life TV, and GMA News TV International, we will actively take part in Philippine Independence Day events and spread happiness among our kababayans through our artists, games, and other gimmicks that will leave a smile in every participant’s faces. Our channels will also bring the fun right into the household with new shows that will excite the senses and entertain our viewers in the comfort of their living rooms.

After shining bright for the last four decades, Maricel Soriano has brought her luster to GMA, making the network sparkle even more.

Kapuso Abroad!

Dancing Queen of the 80’s

Hindi lang acting magaling si Maricel – kilala rin siya dahil sa kanyang signature dance moves to “I Am What I Am”, “Body Dancer”, at “Rico Mambo”. Hanggang ngayon, marami pa rin ang sumasayaw a la Maricel – mapa-bata

man o matanda!

The Face of Philippine Cinema

In fact, Maricel is one of the most-awarded actresses of all time, bagging around 20 major

awards during the course of her career.

From “Shirley Puruntong” to “Millet Real”

Perhaps the most iconic role that Maricel played is that of “Shirley Puruntong” in John en Marsha. Now, she is set to leave another mark as Millet in Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real. Bagay na bagay ang role kay Maricel dahil sa kanyang natural elegance and drive to attain perfection, which are two of Millet’s defining qualities. With an exciting storyline involving a man marrying two wives, Maricel is in for an exciting and challenging portrayal of a complex character in Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real na siguradong magpapahanga

sa mga viewers sa Pilipinas at abroad.

Miguel and Bianca both started acting at a young age. After winning Starstruck Kids, Miguel was cast as in Mulawin and most recently, in Mga Basang Sisiw. Bianca’s first foray into drama was through Kaya Kong Abutin Ang Langit. Sa unang pagkakataon, Miguel and Bianca will break out of doing kiddie roles to take on more mature ones bilang mga bida sa Nino na mapapanood sa GMA Telebabad.

Mariel’s potential to be a well-rounded actress has been seen in Magkano Ba Ang Pag-Ibig at Paraiso Ko’y Ikaw.

After winning various acting awards given by the PMPC Star Awards and Golden Screen TV Awards, acting in indie films and shows Dormitoryo at Akin Pa Rin Ang Bukas, and performing in Sunday All Stars, fans can only expect bigger projects, meatier roles, and a bright showbiz future from Ruru.

Gab is one of the freshest faces in GMA, having joined GMA Artist Center last March 2014. However, Gab is definitely not taking things easy – isinalang na agad siya sa mga acting workshops para mas mahasa pa ang kanyang mga talento for that big break the network has in store for him.

What if Sto. Niño is one of us?

Panoorin ang Niño on GMA Pinoy TV

Nagsimulang umere ang Tonight with Arnold Clavio noong Abril 2010. Sa halos apat na taong itinagal nito, nakakuha na ang Tonight with Arnold Clavio ng iba’t-ibang parangal mula sa mga prestihiyosong organisasyon tulad ng PMPC Star Awards for TV (bilang nominee for Best Celebrity Talk Show and Hosts) at Catholic Mass Media Awards (bilang Best Talk Show).

Panoorin si Igang makipagdaupang-palad sa ilan sa mga tinitingalang personalidad sa bansa only on GMA News TV International.

13

15

Ngayong summer, dadalhin ng GMA News and Public Affairs ang mga manunuod sa anim sa pinakamagagandang destinasyon sa Pilipinas through ISLA. Sa pamamagitan ng programa, mas maiintindihan ng mga tao kung bakit isa ang Pilipinas sa mga must-visit places in the world at mas mapapamahal ang mga Pilipino sa kanilang bansang sinilangan.

Pangungunahan nina Kapuso model-host Solenn Heussaff at self-confessed beach lover Mikael Daez ang ISLA. Together, they will tour the islands of Palawan, Dumaguete, Negros Occidental, Siquijor, Batangas, and Cebu to get a feel of the local culture, taste authentic Philippine cuisine, and try out activities na matatagpuan lamang sa mga lugar na ito.
